Albanian Legal Information Initiative

Website of the Albanian Legal Information Initiative, which is based in the Chicago-Kent College of Law at Illinois Institute of Technology. The initiative is part of the 'Rule of Law Through Technology' project, which seeks to increase access to legal information in Albania. The site describes the project and provides a selection of Albanian legal resources, including various treaties and statutes (in French and Turkish), the Albanian Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedural Code (both in English). Parts of the site are password-protected.

Kingdom of Morocco - Ministry of Justice

Website of the Moroccan Ministry of Justice. The site publishes information about the Ministry and its work It outlines the administration of justice in Morocco and gives details of the court system, including statistics and a directory of courts and tribunals. The site also makes available the Moroccan Constitution, treaties and key legislation including the Family Code and the Commercial Code, all in French. The site interface is available in French, Arabic and English.

Garant : daily monitoring of Russian law

Free legal news service from Garant, a Moscow-based company specialising in the provision of Russian legal information. The Garant site, which is available in English and Russian, provides daily Russian legal updates (including amendments and decisions), giving the date, title and a brief summary. Garant also offers a fee-based database of Russian legislation, in English and Russian.

American Bankruptcy Institute

The American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) was established to provide analysis of bankruptcy issues for the US Congress and the public. Membership is drawn from lawyers, bankers, judges, accountants, auctioneers and other bankruptcy specialists; parts of the site are restricted to members. The ABI's activities include the provision of education and research programmes, organising conferences and producing publications. The website gives access to a selection of bankruptcy news stories, US bankruptcy legislation and links to US bankruptcy courts.

National Law Center for Inter-American Free Trade

Website of the National Law Center for Inter-American Free Trade (NLCIFT) a non-profit research organisation affiliated to the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona. The aim of NLCIFT is "to develop the legal infrastructure necessary to facilitate the movement of goods, services and investment capital in the Western Hemisphere." The NLCIFT carries out research into the commercial laws and practices of countries in the Western Hemisphere with the aim of harmonising and standardising the legal infrastructure and eliminating the barriers to free trade.

Statewatch Observatory In Defence of Freedom and Democracy: New Laws and Practices Affecting Civil Liberties and Rights After September 11

This site is maintained by civil rights organisation Statewatch. It provides a collection of useful links to full-text documents relating to changes in civil rights worldwide in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. These include legislation, directives, anti-terrorist measures and government proposals worldwide. There is a specialist section devoted to the reaction of the European Union. Topics covered include data protection and identity card schemes.

Legislationline

Legislationline is a website provided by the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), which is part of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). It consists primarily of a database of selected legal texts from countries within the OSCE region, as well as international legal materials. The purpose of this database is to provide examples of domestic legislation and international standards for the use of lawmakers in OSCE participating states.

Puerto Rico Self-Determination Legislation

A collection of materials and Internet links made freely available on the Puerto Rico Herald website covering the issues surrounding self-determination for the island. The text of the H.R. 856 United States - Puerto Rico Political Status Act is provided along with selected committee information. The Puerto Rico Self-Determination Act S.472 which calls for a plebiscite of Puerto Rico's citizens to determine the political status of the territory is also included along with background information to the act.

Environmental Law Foundation

The Environmental Law Foundation (ELF) is a national UK charity which links communities and individuals to legal and technical experts who can provide advice and information on how the law can help resolve environmental problems. ELF was established in 1992 and consists of a network of environmental solicitors, barristers, consultants and academics, who provide free initial advice and assistance and then, if required, further support on either a free, at cost or reduced-fee rate.
