Website of LawWorks, an independent charitable association of solicitors in England and Wales dedicated to pro bono (free) legal advice: 'LawWorks' is the operating name of the Solicitors' Pro Bono Group (SPBG). The site describes the background, role and purpose of the organisation and gives details of LawWorks' projects. These include clinics providing free legal advice sessions, mediation services and free legal services aimed at the voluntary sector.

Scottish Law Online

A resource service comprising a series of complementary websites, each dedicated to Scots Law and Scottish legal issues. The component elements are: Scots Law Online Resource Centre, A-Z of the Law of Scotland, Scots Law Student Zone, Scottish Law Firm Directory, Scots Law Student Journal and the Corporate Zone providing links to company and business information. The Scots Law Online Resource Centre is a legal portal providing links to Courts, legislation, governmental sources, professional bodies, societies and universities.

Bar Pro Bono Unit

Website for the Bar Pro Bono Unit, which was established to provide free legal advice and representation to those who need it. The Unit helps to put solicitors, advice agencies and members of the public in touch with barristers volunteering to give free advice, client conferences and representation in cases meeting the Unit's criteria for support. The website describes the aims and work of the Unit, with information on the sort of help provided to individuals, community groups and charities.

Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States Bar Association

Website for the professional organisation of legal practitioners and representative Bar Associations working within the jurisdiction of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court. The Association draws membership from the Caribbean islands forming the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, and St Vincent and the Grenadines) together with Anguilla and the British Virgin Islands. There is a membership listing along with the full-text of the Rules of the Bar Association and Code of Ethics.

American Bar Association Commission on Domestic Violence

The American Bar Association Commission on Domestic Violence is based in Washington, D.C., USA. The Commission provides support to attorneys representing victims of domestic violence. The site includes information about Commission members, an online newsletter and a selection of resources to download. These include a tool for attorneys on screening for domestic violence and a report onincorporating domestic violence into the law school curriculum.

New York State Bar Association

The New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) represents lawyers in New York State and publishes a variety of documents and information on this site for its members and for the public. Website for Lex Africa, a network of selected leading law firms throughout the countries of Africa. The site is hosted by Werksmans Attorneys in Johannesburg, South Africa. Each firm listed has information in HTML format about its staff, contact details, main areas of practice, and a guide to doing business in that particular country. Links are provided to other African business and trade sites.

Notaries Society

Website of the Notaries Society, the professional body founded in 1882 to represent notaries practising in England and Wales, outside London. The site provides information for members of the profession and the general public on the role of the notary and details of how to qualify. A contact directory assists with finding a notary. Parts of the site are restricted to members only.

American College of Legal Medicine

Web pages of the American College of Legal Medicine, a membership organisation concerned with the issues arising from the convergence of medicine and the law. The College provides educational courses, works to influence policy-making, promotes research and scholarship and facilitates communication between professionals. The site presents membership, background and organisational information. There are articles, an annotated list of related websites and guidelines for expert witnesses. Information on the College's publications is provided including contents pages and selected free articles.

Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service is a Department of the Scottish Executive. It the Scottish department responsible for the prosecution of crime, the investigation of sudden or suspicious deaths, and the investigation of complaints against the police. The site outlines the work of the Service and an interactive map of Scotland provides details of the network of Regional Procurator Fiscal offices supporting each Sheriff Court district. Information is provided for crime victims and witnesses and details are provided about the work of the Victim Information and Advice Service.
