The German British Union of Lawyers "Deutsch-Britische Juristenvereinigung" (DBJV) was established in 1970. This is the freely accessible website of its German division, which currently has around 750 members. The site is managed and maintained by the Europa-Universit§t Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder). LAWASIA

Law Council of Australia

Website of the national council of lawyers in Australia, a professional organisation promoting and developing the role of Australia's lawyers, administration of justice and access to justice in the interests of the Australian community. The Council was formed in 1933 by a number of Australian state Bar Associations and Law Societies. The site describes the history, role and membership of the organisation, with notes about committee and sectional structure, seminars and conferences, and traineeships. Policy documents can be downloaded from the site in PDF.

Courtserve Legal Information Centre

The Courtserve Legal Information Centre is a website of Courtel Communications Limited who provide a number of subscription services aimed at legal practitioners including digital delivery of court lists and legal news. A selection of free services can be accessed on the Courtservice site. These include court lists from the Crown Courts, the Royal Courts of Justice, selected County Courts and Employment Tribunal lists. These require free registration. A Directory of Chambers, a Crown Court Directory and a County Court Directory are available on the site.

Association of Lawyers for Children

Web pages for an Association concerned with justice for children and young people within the legal system in England and Wales. The organisation draws its membership from a broad range of professionals involved in work relating to children, including solicitors, barristers, legal staff, psychiatrists, psychologists, paediatricians and social workers. The website explains the purpose and describes the work of the ALC. Information is given on the Association's committee, membership procedures and events.

LawWorks

Website of LawWorks, an independent charitable association of solicitors in England and Wales dedicated to pro bono (free) legal advice: 'LawWorks' is the operating name of the Solicitors' Pro Bono Group (SPBG). The site describes the background, role and purpose of the organisation and gives details of LawWorks' projects. These include clinics providing free legal advice sessions, mediation services and free legal services aimed at the voluntary sector.

Scottish Law Online

A resource service comprising a series of complementary websites, each dedicated to Scots Law and Scottish legal issues. The component elements are: Scots Law Online Resource Centre, A-Z of the Law of Scotland, Scots Law Student Zone, Scottish Law Firm Directory, Scots Law Student Journal and the Corporate Zone providing links to company and business information. The Scots Law Online Resource Centre is a legal portal providing links to Courts, legislation, governmental sources, professional bodies, societies and universities.

Bar Pro Bono Unit

Website for the Bar Pro Bono Unit, which was established to provide free legal advice and representation to those who need it. The Unit helps to put solicitors, advice agencies and members of the public in touch with barristers volunteering to give free advice, client conferences and representation in cases meeting the Unit's criteria for support. The website describes the aims and work of the Unit, with information on the sort of help provided to individuals, community groups and charities. Examples of cases are given and an online application form is provided for those seeking assistance.

American Bar Association Commission on Domestic Violence

The American Bar Association Commission on Domestic Violence is based in Washington, D.C., USA. The Commission provides support to attorneys representing victims of domestic violence. The site includes information about Commission members, an online newsletter and a selection of resources to download. These include a tool for attorneys on screening for domestic violence and a report onincorporating domestic violence into the law school curriculum.

New York State Bar Association

The New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) represents lawyers in New York State and publishes a variety of documents and information on this site for its members and for the public. The site has organisational information including details of committees and sections such as environmental law, business law and criminal law. Services for the public include lawyer referral, information on legal aid (pro bono), and steps to take if you have a grievance with your attorney and a selection of free pamphlets to download providing brief overviews of aspects of New York State law.
