Law Society of Northern Ireland

Website for the Law Society of Northern Ireland the regulatory body for solicitors in Northern Ireland. The site provides organisational information about the Society with contact details for its Council and principal officers. There are downloadable issues of the Society's monthly journal,The Writ and High Court and Court of Appeal, Industrial Tribunal and Fair Employment decisions are provided in full text on the site. A selection of leaflets aimed at the public are provided covering a selection of legal issues such as making a will and buying and selling a house.

Law Society of Kenya

Website of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK). The Society, formed in 1948, works to advise and assist the legal profession, government and public on matters relating to the administration of justice in Kenya. Membership comprises all practising advocates in Kenya. There is information on the history and objectives of the LSK, profiles of Council and Secretariat members and a searchable directory of members. Details of the various committees and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) provision are also available newsletters can be downloaded in full text (PDF).

Centro de Estudos Judiciários

The Portuguese Centro de Estudos Judiciários was set up under the auspices of the Portuguese Ministry of Justice to train judges and public prosecutors and to carry out research on judicial matters. Information about the Centre's constitution and work are provided, as well as details of publications, including the contents pages of its journal, the Revista do CEJ. Some publications are available in full, notably its studies and annual report. The site is mainly in Portuguese, but basic information about the Centre is available in English.

Japan Federation of Bar Associations

Website of the Japan Federation of Bar Associations (JFBA), whose objectives include the protection of human rights in Japan, the registration of attorneys and the governance of matters relating to the guidance and supervision of Japanese attorneys and local bar associations. Background information on the JFBA is given including its objectives, categories of membership, membership rates, committees and an outline of the Japanese legal system and role of the attorney. The JFBA rules and regulations include full-text (HTML) of the code of ethics and the articles of association.

A website promoting the Dublin-based law firm A & L Goodbody, outlining the services and areas of specialisation offered by the firm and its staff. In-house articles are available on specific topics including tax, gaming and betting, banking and financial services in Ireland and a monthly newsletter, 'Tracker' covers financial services regulation in Ireland. A current Legal News section features recent commentary and articles on topical legal issues in Ireland - particularly those involving business and taxation.

The directory can be searched by name, location or legal specialisation. The site also provides access to guidance on hiring a lawyer in the US and a guide to the US legal system.

Chartered Institute of Legal Executives

The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) was formerly called the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX). It is the professional organisation representing legal executives and trainee legal executives in the United Kingdom. Established in 1963 to provide education and training facilities particularly for non solicitor staff employed in fee earning work and in the management of firms. CILEx is also involved in the development and regulation of the professional conduct and practice standards of its members.
