European Judicial Network (EJN)

The EU's European Judicial Network (EJN) aims to foster judicial cooperation between EU member states in criminal matters and to provide information and advice on mutual legal assistance to legal practitioners. The website outlines the judicial systems of 35 European countries, including all the EU member states. Legal forms are provided and there is a large amount of information about the European Arrest Warrant. There is a multilingual legal glossary (SOLON) and a link to a page of international legal instruments concerning police and judicial cooperation.

Trade Issues : Trade in services

Web pages presented and maintained by the European Commission's Directorate General for Trade in order to help service providers in the EU to operate around the world. Includes substantial information about EU participation in the WTO's General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) and some details of it activities regarding regional and bilateral agreements. There is a page devoted to relevant legislation, reports and other publications; another page covers e-commerce and services.

ELSA: the European Law Students' Association

Website of ELSA, the European Law Students Association, an organisation for law students and recent graduates in Europe, which helps them to explore opportunities in Europe for working and learning, and helps to give them an international perspective in their studies. The site includes areas on legal research, events and human rights awareness. There are opportunities to join legal research groups and participate in student exchange programmes. Selected papers on European law can be downloaded as PDFs from the site.

European Union Treaties

Treaties section of the European Union's law website, EUR-Lex. Provides the founding treaties, accession treaties and treaties amending the founding treaties, plus protocols. The treaties include the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) and the Treaty on European Union (TEU). Consolidated versions are offered for the TFEU, TEU and a few of the other treaties. The interface is in all the official languages of the EU, but not all of the treaties are in all these languages.

European Parliament and the IGC 2000

This site was created by the European Parliament to provide information on its involvement in the Inter-Governmental Conference 2000, which paved the way for alterations to EU treaties so that new member states could join. In addition to archived news releases, it includes an overview of how EU treaties are revised and the role in this of the European Parliament. It also provides access to numerous full-text documents produced by the Parliament on this issue; they include parliamentary committee reports, resolutions, debates and speeches.

Raad van State: Conseil d'Etat: Staatsrat: the Supreme Administrative Court of Belgium

Web pages of the Raad van State, or Supreme Administrative Court of Belgium, which was set up in 1946 to allow Belgians an effective appeal against irregular administrative acts. The pages are available in three different language interfaces: Dutch, French and German. Users can search the full-text of decrees of the Court, and results can be displayed in Dutch or French, and in PDF. The site also offers answers to frequently asked questions about the Court, and explains its legal background.

EUR-Lex: legislative procedures

The successor to PreLex, this part of the EUR-Lex website provides a database tracking the progress of proposals for EU legislation. The information provided includes details of the latest stage of the legislative or decision-making procedure, as well as previous stages, and links to associated documents such as COM documents, common positions, reports of the European Parliament, the Official Journal of the European Union and press releases. The site is available in all the official languages of the EU.

Portal to EU official documents and publications and related information, including links to the various EU documents registers and details of EU libraries and archives. Covers official documents of all the EU institutions, including the European Commission, Council of the European Union and European parliament. The site is currently available in twenty-two of the twenty-three official EU languages (all except Irish).

Moniteur Belge

Web pages of the Moniteur Belge/Belgisch Staatsblad, the official Belgian record which is published daily and includes texts of new laws, royal decrees and ordinances, and new regulations, as well as prominent decisions in Belgian law. The complete text of the Moniteur is available from 22 September 1998, and users can search on the date of publication to display the text for that date. The text can be displayed in French, German or Dutch, and the interface is in Dutch or French. 

EUR-Lex: Preparatory Acts

Part of the EU's free EUR-Lex web database, the Preparatory Acts page gives access to proposed legislation, reports and other texts published in the European Commission's COM documents series, back to 1999, in pdf format. The documents can be searched, or browsed by year and month. The site is offered in each of the EU languages.
