Faculty of Advocates

The Faculty of Advocates is the professional association for Scottish advocates (the equivalent of English barristers). Its website has information about the work of an advocate and details of the training courses and services offered by the Faculty. There is access to the Advocates Library online catalogue and a list of links to other Scottish legal sites. Profiles of practising members are also available on the site.

Council for Court Excellence

The Council for Court Excellence (CCE) is a non-profit organisation based in Washington DC whose aim is to improve the administration of justice in the courts.The site has information about the staff, Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Council for Court Excellence. There is information about the work of the CCE along with related documentation covering areas such as children and the court system, child welfare system in the District of Columbia, jury reform and various court improvement projects. A selection of CCE publications are made available on the site in PDF format.

Kentucky Bar Association

The Kentucky Bar Association is an agency of the Supreme Court of Kentucky and is responsible for regulating the state's legal profession. The site has contact details for members of the Board of Governors, officers and staff of the KBA and a searchable directory of members. There are links to Kentucky legal resources including information about the Kentucky State and Federal courts. There are also links to published opinions of the Kentucky Supreme Court and the Kentucky Court of Appeal.

Louisiana State Bar Association

Website of the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA) whose role is to assist with regulation of the legal profession and to provide services to its members including Continuing Legal Education. The site has information about the LSBA including contact details for the officers and Board of Governors and details of sections and committees. There are links to Louisiana legal resources such as courts, government and law and information on lawyer discipline and Rules of Professional Conduct. The Louisiana Bar Journal is available to search or browse back to 2005.

Maryland State Bar Association

Website of the Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA) a non-profit organisation whose membership is drawn from attorneys and judges from the state of Maryland in the United States. The website has information about the MSBA including contact details for directors and officers and information about the work of the MSBA committees and sections and the Maryland Bar Foundation.

Kansas Bar Association

Website of the Kansas Bar Association a voluntary organisation representing legal professionals practising in Kansas. The site has information about the KBA including contact details for the Board of Governors. There are links to Kansas legal resources and the District Court Rules. Information aimed at members includes details of the Continuing Legal Education programme, careers information and indexes and issues of the Journal of the Kansas Bar Association.

Iowa State Bar Association

Website of the Iowa State Bar Association (ISBA) a professional organisation representing Iowa attorneys. The site provides information about the ISBA including contact details for staff and governors and information on the various sections and committees. There is a directory of members which can be searched by city or name and links to Iowa legal resources including courts, laws, opinions and law schools. For members there is information on Continuing Legal Education, careers, publications (including the in-house Iowa Lawyer) and a link to the Iowa legislative timetable.

Idaho State Bar

The Idaho State Bar (ISB) is responsible for licensing all attorneys practising law in Idaho, for regulating the legal profession and for promoting a high standard of professional conduct. The site has information about the work of the ISB (including sections, committees and Continuing Legal Education) along with resources aimed at attorneys and the public. For attorneys there is membership information, the Idaho Code, rules and a selection of Idaho State Bar forms made available in PDF format.

District of Columbia Bar

Website of the District of Columbia Bar which was established in 1972. The Bar provides services to its members and the public and has a role in upholding the integrity of the legal profession. The site provides information about the work of the Bar including details about sections, committees, Continuing Legal Education, the Lawyer Practice Assistance Program and the pro bono scheme. There are copies of annual reports, ethics opinions and summaries of disciplinary cases available back to 1979 which can be searched by name or date.

Hawaii State Bar Association

Website of the Hawaii State Bar Association (HSBA) which was formed in 1899 and is responsible for regulating the legal profession in Hawaii. The site provides information about the work of the HSBA including contact details for officers and directors and a description of the work carried out by the committees and sections. For the public there is a directory of members and a Lawyer Referral Service. There is also guidance to different aspects of the law arranged by legal subject, advice on making a complaint against a lawyer and contact details for other legal services in Hawaii.
