Website of the District of Columbia Bar which was established in 1972. The Bar provides services to its members and the public and has a role in upholding the integrity of the legal profession. The site provides information about the work of the Bar including details about sections, committees, Continuing Legal Education, the Lawyer Practice Assistance Program and the pro bono scheme. There are copies of annual reports, ethics opinions and summaries of disciplinary cases available back to 1979 which can be searched by name or date. Copies of the Washington Lawyer, the official journal of the Bar, can be viewed online back to 2000. There are details of arbitration services, aimed at members and their clients, to resolve disputes about legal fees and legal malpractice. Web links are provided to legal resources in the District of Columbia and there is advice for the public on making a complaint, hiring a lawyer and going to court.
