Bar Association of the District of Columbia

The Bar Association of the District of Columbia (BADC) is a voluntary bar association representing members of the Washington DC legal community. The site has information about the BADC including contact details for officers, sections and committees. News from the BADC is made available in their free online newsletter, Hearsay which is presented in PDF format on the site. There are also details of the BADC's campaign, Operation Crackdown that provides free legal representation to community groups to help them fight the problems of drug related crime.

Council for Court Excellence

The Council for Court Excellence (CCE) is a non-profit organisation based in Washington DC whose aim is to improve the administration of justice in the courts. The site has information about the work of the CCE along with documentation covering areas such as children and the court system, child welfare system in the District of Columbia, jury reform and various court improvement projects.

District of Columbia Bar

Website of the District of Columbia Bar, with coverage of its specialist sections and committees and information about Continuing Legal Education, practice management and the pro bono scheme. Disciplinary decisions are available back to 1979 and there is advice for the public on making a complaint, hiring a lawyer and going to court.

Washington Lawyer

The Washington Lawyer is a monthly journal published by the District of Columbia Bar and made freely available on their website. The journal focuses on legal news from the District of Columbia and the District of Columbia Bar and includes feature articles, letters, editorials and book reviews. The Washington Lawyer is made available in full-text in HTML with issues available back to the beginning of 2000. It is also possible to search all issues by keyword.
