United Arab Emirates E-Legal Portal

The United Arab Emirates E-Legal Portal forms part of the UAE Ministry of Justice website. The site includes a collection of full text legislation arranged by subject including environment, housing, security, insurance, finance, telecommunications and weapons. There is also a copy of the UAE Constitution. The collection is presented in English as well as Arabic and can be searched by keyword. Other resources on the site are provided in Arabic only. These include international treaties, civil and criminal High Court decisions and other official publications and consultations.

Satellites and Law

Satellites and Law is a research programme based at the Centre for Law and the Environment at University College London. The programme deals with issues surrounding the use of satellites for monitoring and enforcing environmental laws. The site has information on research projects taking place looking at the use of satellites in legal systems, privacy issues in using satellite imagery in courts and national and international experience of using satellite imagery as a legal monitoring and compliance tool.

Advertising Law and Ethics

Website providing information and links to resources dealing with advertising law and ethics in the United States. The site is made freely available by the College of Communication at the University of Texas at Austin. The site is arranged by topic covering a range of issues relevant to advertising law. These include children, deception, tobacco and alcohol advertising, self regulation, telemarketing, privacy and unfairness. Each section contains background information and external links to organisations and full text legislation.

Law Donut

The Law Donut web resource provides practical legal information aimed at small businesses. Information on the site is arranged by topic including finding, buying and selling a business, insolvency, trading law, remuneration and pensions, intellectual property and premises. Each section gives an overview to the law in that area along with practical advice and guidance. There is a more detailed section on employment law for small businesses covering issues such as health and safety, discipline and grievance, recruiting and managing staff and employment contracts.

Research guide on indigenous peoples international law

Online guide to researching indigenous international law written by Christopher C. Dykes who is reference/research librarian at the University of Houston Law Center's O'Quinn Law Library. The guide was published in August 2009 (and updated in July 2024) on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. The guide provides an introduction to the topic including a definition of the term "indigenous peoples", a list of indigenous groups and other key terms.

Researching the legal system and laws of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania

Online guide to Mauritanian law written by Zelezeck Nguimatsa Serge who is a bi-jural (Civil and Common Law) lawyer currently completing a research fellowship on Lusophone legal systems in Maputo, Mozambique. The guide was published in August 2009 (and updated Kevashinee Pillay in 2022) on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. The author provides historical background and political information on the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

Arctic Council

The Arctic Council is an intergovernmental forum - with indigenous representation - that fosters cooperation between the eight Arctic States: Canada, Finland, Iceland, Norway, the Russian Federation, Sweden, Canada, the United States and Denmark (including Greenland and the Faroe Islands). The website provides details of its institutions and projects and makes available publications, including international agreements, meeting documents, reports, strategy documents and the Council's founding instruments.

Lockerbie Trial: Scottish Courts

This is an official website maintained by the Scottish Courts. It provides free access to information relating to the trial of the alleged terrorists involved in the bombing of the PanAm jumbo jet over Lockerbie in 1988. It includes the judgments of the Lockerbie trial and the outcome of the appeal of defendant Abdelbaset Ali Mohamed Al Megrhi in 2002.

Supreme Court of Cyprus

Official website of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Cyprus. The site gives a brief outline of the legal system and the roles and functions of the Supreme Court and other Cypriot courts including the district, military, family and assize courts and the Rent Control and Industrial Dispute tribunals. Selected judgments from 2007 onwards are available in Greek, together with a small number of case summaries in English. Brazil Federal Supreme Court

Official website of the Federal Supreme Court of Brazil. The site has a judgments database and provides background and historical information about the Court. It also has a selection of case summaries made in English, Spanish and French. Links are given to Brazilian legislation, including the Constitution. The site is in Portuguese and Spanish; it also has a limited English interface.
