Law of the Pacific Islands

Description:

A guide to web-based resources, listing and describing internet sites providing legislation, law reports and government information for the Pacific Island region. The guide has been written by Ruth Bird who is Bodleian Law Librarian at the University of Oxford, Dianne Thompson who is a Librarian at the Legal Services Commission of South Australia and Anna Matich of the ASIC in Brisbane. The guide was published in the features section of LLRX.com in July 2008 and updates previous versions published in October 2000, April 2002 and December 2005. The authors offer guidance on researching law for the region, explaining matters of terminology when using the internet to locate Pacific law sites. A tabulated alphabetical list of countries and sites provides links to primary sources with notes on the political status of the country and any politically associated country. Other sections of the guide look at selected journals, treaties and specialised legislation, academic sites and research centres and related non-law sites. LLRX.com (Law Library Resource Xchange)is a free online web journal for legal information professionals.
