Genocide Studies Program, Macmillan Center for International and Area Studies

Website providing information about the Genocide Studies Program at Yale University. The Program was founded in 1998. Its projects include research into genocide in Rwanda, Cambodia, East Timor, Sudan and Former Yugoslavia. Searchable bibliographic, biographic, geographic, and photographic databases are available on the site, together with full-text papers and articles.

Islamic Family Law Project

The Islamic Family Law Project website is based at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia. The Project surveyed the application of Islamic family law in a selection of countries and explored the possibilities for reform. A regional breakdown of Islamic countries around the world is given on the site, with a profile of each region consisting of historical and religious background, family issues, legal practices and institutions and a list of references.

Center on Children, Families, and the Law (The)

The Center on Children, Families, and the Law is located at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. It conducts research into public policy and the law relating to children and families. Selected publications are available on the website, including Nebraska Revised Statutes: Selected Provisions Pertaining to Child Welfare, Juvenile Justice, and Vulnerable Adults (known as the "Red Book").

Institute for Law School Teaching

The Institute for Law School Teaching is a professional organisation based at Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane, Washington, USA. The Institute was established in 1991 to improve the quality of teaching and learning in legal education by providing guidance and setting standards. Details of the Institute's goals appear on the site along with the 'Seven Principles for Good Practice in Legal Education'. Ideas for teaching law are explained, including concept mapping, cooperative learning groups and multiple-choice quizzes.

Information Society Project

Website of the Information Society Project (ISP), a research project managed by the Yale Law School. The ISP is concerned with the "implications of the Internet and new information technologies for law and society, guided by the values of democracy, human development, and social justice". Research programmes look at digital education, law and genomics and intellectual property reform and innovation. Papers prepared by research staff can be downloaded in full-text PDF.

Understanding Children's Work

This site brings together research conducted by the International Labour Organisation, Unicef and the World Bank. Its objectives are "to improve child labour research, data collection and data analysis; to enhance local and national capacity for child labour data collection and research; and to improve the assessment of existing interventions in this field." The project encourages interaction between researchers, but also disseminates information to the wider public. There are several databases posted on the site, for example Child Labour Data Sets and Country Statistics.

Center for the Study of Democracy

The Center for the Study of Democracy is an independent, interdisciplinary institute which aims to foster democracy and reform in Bulgaria. Its website includes links to current projects, publications, and papers (some in Bulgarian, some in English), covering Law, Europe, Economy, Judicial Reform, Corporate Governance, and Book Donation. There is a section about Vitosha Research, which covers the market, social, political, advertising and media issues. There is also a 'News and Events' section, covering current activities of the centre, and a section profiling centre staff.

Dalhousie Health Justice Institute

Internet site providing general information on the aims and work of the Dalhousie Health Justice Institute at Dalhousie University - an interdisciplinary Institute of the Faculties of Law, Medicine, Health Professions, and Dentistry with a focus on health law and policy. The site also provides descriptions of health law and policy programmes and courses provided in Dalhousie University, details of the Institute's projects and links to related websites. Full text annual reports from 1996-7 onwards can be downloaded from the site.

Canadian Institute of Resources Law

Internet website providing general information about the Canadian Institute of Resource Law which was formed in 1979 by the University of Calgary to undertake and promote research in Canadian resource law and environmental issues. The website provides background details of the Institute's mandate, governance and management structure, with staff profiles and contacts list. Publications include reports, papers and conference proceedings, some of which are available in full text online.

Transcrime

Transcrime, the Research Centre on Transnational Crime, is based in the Department of Law at the University of Trento in Italy.  Its website gives an overview of the Centre's projects. The Publications page provides some titles in full and others with abstracts only. The site, including the publications, is in both English and Italian.
