International Institute of Space Law

Website of the International Institute of Space Law (IISL), a membership organisation founded in 1960 and based in France. The purpose of the IISL is cooperation with national and international space law organisations and the development of space law. The site provides information about the Institute's activities, which include annual colloquia and joint symposia with the European Centre for Space. Standing committee reports, an online newsletter and conference and workshop proceedings can be downloaded from the site.

Energy and Mineral Law Foundation

Website of the Energy and Mineral Law Foundation (EMLF) an educational organisation which promotes the study of law relating to energy and natural resources. EMLF membership is drawn from law firms, law schools, mineral companies and trade and professional associations supporting the mineral industry. The site provides a directory of members and details of educational events. The publications page has brief details of Annual Institutes of the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation and full-text documents can be purchased online. Parts of the site are restricted to members.

National Legal Aid

Website of National Legal Aid (NLA) the organisation representing the state Legal Aid Commissions in Australia. The stated aim of the NLA is to "promote leadership and management of a national system of legal aid through the coordinated efforts of Commissions by sharing resources, knowledge and systems which enhance best practice and value for money in the delivery of legal aid to clients across eight States and Territories".

ASEAN Law Association

Website of the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Law Association, a non-governmental professional organisation which brings together members of the legal profession in ASEAN countries. The site provides historical and organisational information about the ALA. Publications and speeches of members from the various countries can be freely downloaded.

Judicial Family Institute

Website of the Judicial Family Institute (JFI) a United States based organisation providing information of interest to judges and their families. The site has a selection of freely available resources and links including articles covering issues relating to the children of judges, the ethical issues surrounding judicial families, health and quality of life issues affecting judges and advice on security. There are links to resources and training programmes available in each state and to state court websites, administrative offices and state ethics codes.

It provides background information on a range of legal professions including guidance on becoming a solicitor, barrister or legal executive. There is information on legal courses including the Legal Practice Course and the Bar Vocational Course. Tips and advice are given on topics such as choosing the right university, interviews and applications, training contracts and pupillage.

BIALL How Do I? wiki

The How Do I? wiki is written by members of the British and Irish Association of Law Librarians (BIALL) PR and Promotions Committee. The service is aimed at law librarians but is made freely available on the BIALL website. The wiki provides answers to questions asked by law librarians on the Lis-Law jiscmail list and can be accessed by broad subject headings, a detailed alphabetical listing or by using the search engine. Subject headings include legislation, judgments and courts, conventions and treaties, European Union and books and journals.

Stair Society

Website of the Stair Society an organisation established in 1934 "to encourage the study and advance the knowledge of Scots Law by the publication of original documents and by the reprinting and editing of works of sufficient rarity or importance". The site has organisational and membership information about the Society and details are given of the annual lectures held by the Society.

Barreau de Luxembourg

Website of the Luxembourg Bar Council the professional organisation representing lawyers based in Luxemburg. The site gives background information on the work of the attorney in Luxembourg and the organisation of the Bar Council. There is a directory of lawyers based in Luxembourg and Diekirch which can be browsed or searched by specialisation, a directory of bankrupt companies and details of legal aid in Luxembourg. Details of conferences, events and training courses are also freely accessible on the site. The site can be viewed in French, English and German.
