Guide to Estonian legal system and legal research

Online guide to the law and legal system of Estonia written by Jannu Kuusik who is a legal adviser with Tallinn City Government and Kart Miil who is a librarian at Tartu University Library. The article was published in 2008 on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School at the New York University School of Law. The guide gives background and historical information to the governmental and legal system in Estonia. There is a section dealing with the Constitution including a link to the full text of the Constitution and other legislation provided in English.

Mental Health Lawyers Association

The Mental Health Lawyers Association is a professional body for mental health lawyers in England and Wales - lawyers who represent clients in applications before the Mental Health Review Tribunal. The site has information about the Association and gives details of conferences. It also provides a directory of mental health lawyers, legal updates and information about legal aid.

Court of Protection

Court of Protection site on the GOV.UK website. The Court makes decisions in relation to financial, healthcare and welfare issues of adults who lack the mental capacity to make decisions for themselves. The site has Court rules and practice directions, a copy of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (which created the Court) and a Code of Practice providing guidance on how the Act works.

Office of the Public Guardian

The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) provide supports for the Public Guardian, the Court of Protection and people in England and Wales who lack the capacity to make decisions for themselves. The OPG manages a register of Lasting Powers of Attorney, a register of Enduring Powers of Attorney and supervises Deputies appointed by the Court of Protection. The site provides information about the work of the OPG and the Court of Protection. There is guidance on the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and advice on Lasting Power of Attorney and Enduring Power of Attorney.

International Academy of Estate and Trust Law

The International Academy of Estate and Trust Law is a US-based organisation for notaries, solicitors, lawyers, judges and academics experienced in probate and trust law. The Academy is concerned with the study of all types of vehicles for the transfer of wealth, such as corporations, partnerships, common law trusts, statutory trusts and foundations. Its website gives an overview of the IAETL's activities, but most of it is restricted to members.

Reporters Privilege Compendium

The Reporter's Privilege Compendium is a resource for US journalists, compiled by the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press. It provides information on the law relating to reporter's privilege - the right not to be forced to testify or disclose sources / information in court - in each state and federal circuit. Covers the authority for and source of the right; the scope of protection; procedures for issuing and contesting subpoenas; substantive law on contesting subpoenas; what constitutes compliance; appealing and other issues.
