Researching Tajik law: a guide to the Tajik legal system

A guide to the legal system and legal materials of the Republic of Tajikistan, by Nargis Bozorova, Assistant Coordinator of the Law Program of the Tajik Branch of the Open Society Institute (Soros Foundation). First published in 2002, it is now in the archive section of LLRX (Law Library Resource Xchange, a free online journal for legal information professionals). The author offers brief notes on the history, geography and religion of the region; describes the basic structure of the Tajik legal system, types of legislation and government sources.

President's Office of the Republic of the Maldives

This is the official website of the President of the Maldives. It includes some background information on the role of the president in the government of the region, plus a biography of the current incumbent. Users can also access recent press releass, policy documents, films and transcripts of some important speeches. These cover all aspects of the social, economic, political and foreign policy of the Maldives. Links are provided to other government websites.

ASLH draws its membership from teachers, academics, practitioners and students interested in legal history. Details of the ASLH officers, directors and committee members are provide, along with information on conferences and links to related websites.

UK College of Family Mediators

The UK College of Family Mediators is based in London and sets standards for training and practice for family mediators in the United Kingdom. Family mediation is a process designed to help separating couples agree practical arrangements with regard to divorce, children, property and finance. The College holds a searchable register of members who meet their standards and promotes family mediation to the public. Their website contains information aimed at family mediators and people interested in training to become a family mediator.

Civil Law Reform Division

Website of the Civil Law Reform Division (CLRD) of the Department of Finance and Personnel in Northern Ireland. This department is responsible for civil law reform in the areas of private family law, trusts and property law, tort, contract law and private international law. The site provides details of current projects, online versions of consultation papers and reports downloadable in PDF, links to related documents such as legislation and a page of related web links.

U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) was established by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and began operating on July 2, 1965. The website hosts a wealth of information about the EEOC including; information on its structure and history, details of its training programme, detailed legal guidance on job discrimination issues, a range of relevant statistics and a very useful index of EEOC press releases.

Oxford University Commonwealth Law Journal

The Oxford University Commonwealth Law Journal (OUCLJ) is an academic journal providing a forum for debate in Commonwealth law. The journal is published for the Faculty of Law at the University of Oxford by Hart Publishing. The journal aims to "foster the exchange of fresh ideas about the law, and debate over its (the Commonwealth's) future development, between members of this international community". The journal features articles, case-notes and book reviews covering all branches of the law with the caveat that the material is of interest to its Commonwealth audience.

Asia Foundation

The Asia Foundation is based in San Francisco; it seeks to further the mutual interests of the US and the Asia Pacific region. The Foundation's main areas of interest are governance, law, civil society, economic reform and development, international relations and women's political participation. The website gives information about the programmes it funds, news of its activities and events and a list of its publications, many of which are freely available online.

USAID Development Experience Clearinghouse

This is a service by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The Development Experience Clearinghouse is a searchable database containing reports in the field of international development. It contains over 33,000 USAID reports and reports submitted by academic institutions, charities, companies, and various other organisations. The documents are divided into subject categories including: economic growth, agriculture and trade; global health; and democracy, conflict and humanitarian assistance.
