esp@cenet is a free gateway to a patents search engine which can find UK, European, US and Japanese patent applications using one single search form. The esp@cenet quick search option defaults to the Worldwide database where users can search by words in the title or abstract or persons or organisations. Users can also conduct searches by number, classification or a range of parameters using the advanced search option. If available, the original application along with a description of the invention and drawings are made freely available online.

Environmental Law Foundation

The Environmental Law Foundation (ELF) is a national UK charity which links communities and individuals to legal and technical experts who can provide advice and information on how the law can help resolve environmental problems. ELF was established in 1992 and consists of a network of environmental solicitors, barristers, consultants and academics, who provide free initial advice and assistance and then, if required, further support on either a free, at cost or reduced-fee rate.

Law Centres Federation

Co-ordinating body for law centres in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The site includes background information about law centres and access to justice. Contact details for law centres are provided, together with policy and research documents, leaflets and a newsletter. Parts of the site are restricted to members only.

Great Britain-China Centre

The Great Britain-China Centre exists to promote understanding between Britain and China, focusing in particular on legal and judicial reform. The website has information on projects dealing with human rights reporting, the police, judicial studies training and the death penalty. The Centre's journal, the China Review, is available on the site from 2006 onwards.

Street Law Online

Street Law Online is a non-profit organisation based in the United States, dedicated to promoting learning about law, democracy and human rights. Street Law provides practical legal education materials aimed at schools, juvenile justice facilities and community based organisations. Programs cover youth courts, juvenile justice and parents and the law and include sample materials, rationales, and curricula. Details of publications on street law include some abstracts, tables of contents and some sample lessons. An online newsletter gives updates on trainings, events and resources.

Buffalo Criminal Law Center

The website of the Buffalo Criminal Law Center provides an overview of the Center's mission, programmes of study, and research activities. The center is based at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law and aims to help students in their advanced research into criminal law, as well as acting as an advisory body to US state and federal legislatures about criminal justice issues. The site gives details of the Herbert Wechsler National Criminal Law Moot Court Competition, and the Center's own LL.M. programme in Criminal Law.

Respublika Kareliya

Official website of the Republic of Karelia, one of the autonomous republics of the Russian Federation, located in the north-west, bordering Finland. The site includes the contact details of the principal executive and legislative bodies, links to government departments, policy documents and legal texts. It is available in Finnish, English and Russian languages, with the Russian-language version being the most comprehensive.

Grondwettelijk Hof van België

Website of the Constitutional Court of Belgium (formerly the Belgian Court of Arbitration). The Court's jurisdiction includes "the review of laws, decrees and ordinances with Title II of the Constitution (Articles 8 to 32 on the rights and freedoms of the Belgians) and with Articles 170 and 172 (legality and equality of taxes) and 191 (protection of foreign nationals)", and derives its authority from the Belgian constitution.

Centre de Droit Maritime et Océanique

Website of the Centre de Droit Maritime et Océanique (CDMO) at theUniversity of Nantes, France. The information on the site is aimed at students of the Diploma of further studies of Judicial Sciences of the Sea and includes profiles of research staff and students and work (dissertations and essays) being undertaken at the centre. Articles from the Centre's online journal, Revue Juridique Neptunus, are available back to 1994 (in French ); contents pages of the CDMO's yearly publication, Annuaire de Droit Maritime et Océanique, are also given.
