Legislationline

Legislationline is a website provided by the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), which is part of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). It consists primarily of a database of selected legal texts from countries within the OSCE region, as well as international legal materials. The purpose of this database is to provide examples of domestic legislation and international standards for the use of lawmakers in OSCE participating states.

Prevent Genocide International

Website of Prevent Genocide International, a non-profit education organisation with an ultimate aim to prevent genocide. The website provides educational material about Genocide - including the legal definitions and the major writings by Dr Raphael Lemkin for the years from 1933-1947. It also includes the text of the Genocide Convention, domestic laws implementing the Genocide Convention, documents and articles related to the prevention and punishment of Genocide (including the 1985 Whittaker Report). Groups of people covered include Armenians, Roma, Kurds and Bosnians.

University Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES)

The University Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES) is a UK-based organisation for both academics and practitioners. It promotes research and the establishment of research networks, provides a forum for debate. The website has a Resources section providing videos, podcasts, blogs, and advice for PhD students and early career researchers.  The Publications section links to the Association's open access journal, Contemporary European Politics, and other journals; it also includes blog posts, and lists recent books by UACES members.

Center for the Study of Democracy

The Center for the Study of Democracy is an independent, interdisciplinary institute which aims to foster democracy and reform in Bulgaria. Its website includes links to current projects, publications, and papers (some in Bulgarian, some in English), covering Law, Europe, Economy, Judicial Reform, Corporate Governance, and Book Donation. There is a section about Vitosha Research, which covers the market, social, political, advertising and media issues. There is also a 'News and Events' section, covering current activities of the centre, and a section profiling centre staff.

Canadian Institute of Resources Law

Internet website providing general information about the Canadian Institute of Resource Law which was formed in 1979 by the University of Calgary to undertake and promote research in Canadian resource law and environmental issues. The website provides background details of the Institute's mandate, governance and management structure, with staff profiles and contacts list. Publications include reports, papers and conference proceedings, some of which are available in full text online.

Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies

The Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, Italy, is part of the European University Institute, and carries out research in Law, Economics, History and Civilisation, and Social and Political Sciences, focusing on European issues, in particular European integration. Its website gives details of current research activities and contains a number of publications and papers which may be downloaded in PDF format, in both French and English. There is also a full list of papers published by the Centre, which may be ordered in printed format.

Council of Europe: sport: reference texts

Collection of documents relating to sport, on the Council of Europe website. It includes the full text of the European Sports Charter (1992), CoE treaties, reports, recommendations and minutes of meetings. The subjects covered include doping, spectator violence, sports policy, ethics, sport promotion and political aspects of sport (including discrimination). The site is available in French and English.

Priv-War

Priv-War was a collaborative project by seven European academic institutions, including the University of Sheffield in the UK, which ran from 2008 to 2011. It was coordinated and hosted by the European University Institute in Italy. The aim of Priv-War was to look at the use of private military companies and security companies in situations of armed conflict and examine national and international regulatory frameworks. The website provides the final recommendations of the Priv-War project, together with press releases and two reports produced during the project.

European Society of International Law

Website of the European Society of International Law (ESIL) a membership organisation designed to provide a forum for discussion and facilitate greater interaction between European lawyers on issues of international law. The site provides background information on ESIL including a copy of the constitution, by-laws, special interest groups, details of membership and occasional newsletters. There is information on past and future events hosted by ESIL and a selection of conference reports from past conferences and research forums are published and made freely available on the site.
