Computers and Law Journal

The Computers and Law Journal, published by the Australian and New Zealand Societies for Computers and the Law, is freely available from AustLII (the Australasian Legal Information Institute). The Journal's intended readership includes legal practitioners, academics and computer and telecommunications company executives. Computers and Law Journal has feature articles, case notes and book reviews covering legal issues relating to information technology, the Internet, computer software, telecommunications and intellectual property.

Queensland Courts

Website of the Queensland Courts in Australia, administered by the Supreme Court Library. Includes information about the Supreme Court, District Courts, Magistrates' Courts, Children's Court, and Mental Health Court, as well as the tribunals, such as the Consumer and Commercial Tribunal and the Land and Resources Tribunal. Judgments from the Queensland courts are available, along with practice directions and links to state legislation.

Commonwealth Ombudsman Australia

Website of the Australian Commonwealth Ombudsman whose role is to "investigate complaints from people who believe they have been treated unfairly or unreasonably by a Commonwealth Government department or agency". The site provides guidance to resolving complaints and disputes and full-text copies of the Ombudsman's investigations. These are available online back to 1997 and are presented in PDF.

Tasmania Department of Justice

Website of the Department of Justice in Tasmania, with information about courts and tribunals; prisons; licensing and registration; workplace, product, personal and child safety; and planning and construction. A section called Your Rights covers consumer rights, help for victims of crime, services for people with disabilities or mental health conditions, legal aid, access to justice, discrimination and other matters. The site also provides policy information, publications and an overview of legislation administered by the department.

Intellectual Property Research Institute of Australia

Website of the Intellectual Property Research Institute of Australia (IPRIA) which is based at the University of Melbourne and run by the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Economics and Commerce and the Melbourne Business School. IPRIA was established to "increase the understanding, creation, use and exploitation of intellectual property by Australian organisations and individuals". The site provides information about courses and research work being undertaken at the Institute.

Sydney Law Review

Website of the Sydney Law Review (SLR) a quarterly journal published by Lawbook Co. and the University of Sydney Law School. The journal is made freely available in full text on the AustLII (Australasian Legal Information Institute) website from 1953 onwards. The SLR focuses on Australian law and includes articles, case notes and book reviews.

Law Report

Law Report is a weekly programme produced by Radio National which is part of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). The programme is aimed at lawyers and the public focusing on current legal issues in Australia and across the world and covering subjects such as law reform, legal education and miscarriages of justice. The website provides transcripts of programmes which can be viewed in HTML and recent broadcasts can be heard using Windows Media Player or RealPlayer. Transcripts are listed chronologically and are available back to 1999.

Victoria Law Foundation

Website of the Victoria Law Foundation in Australia. The Foundation is an independent statutory body working for fair and equal access to justice in the state of Victoria. Its website provides research publications, videos, reports, tools, factsheets and other resources. It also has information about training events and grant applications.

Crime and Corruption Commission

The Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) in Queensland, Australia was formed in 2002 to "fight major crime and improve the integrity of the state public sector". The site includes a selection of full-text publications made freely available on the website as PDF documents. These include relevant legislation, research reports, speeches and conference papers and cover topics such as policing, criminal justice, youth, sexual offences and indigenous Australians.

Asian Law Centre

Website of the Asian Law Centre at the University of Melbourne. The Centre promotes the teaching of Asian law in Australia and seeks to increase the understanding of Australian law in Asia. The site provides information about courses, research, events, and details of work in progress at the Asian Law Centre. There is free access to the Centre's bibliographic database, Asian Law Online, and a list of research links which can be searched by country. There is access to the contents and abstracts of the Australian Journal of Asian Law, and to the Melbourne Asia Policy Papers
