First-tier Tribunal (Tax)

Website of the Tax Chamber of the First-tier Tribunal which hears appeals against decisions relating to tax made by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC). Taxes covered include income tax, corporation tax, national insurance contributions, VAT, custom duties, excise duties and landfill tax. The website explains the role and organisation of the Tribunal and gives guidance on making an appeal including providing the appropriate forms to download. Tribunal decisions can be downloaded from the site in full text back to 2002.

Trust Law Committee

The Trust Law Committee is an organisation of academics and practitioners devoted to improving the law of trusts in England and Wales. The organisation was set up in 1994 and its website is hosted at King's College, London. The site gives the names of members of the Committee and outlines the process that has to be undergone to improve the law. Consultation papers and reports published by the Committee can be freely downloaded from the site.

Law Donut

The Law Donut web resource provides practical legal information aimed at small businesses. Information on the site is arranged by topic including finding, buying and selling a business, insolvency, trading law, remuneration and pensions, intellectual property and premises. Each section gives an overview to the law in that area along with practical advice and guidance. There is a more detailed section on employment law for small businesses covering issues such as health and safety, discipline and grievance, recruiting and managing staff and employment contracts.

Lockerbie Trial: Scottish Courts

This is an official website maintained by the Scottish Courts. It provides free access to information relating to the trial of the alleged terrorists involved in the bombing of the PanAm jumbo jet over Lockerbie in 1988. It includes the judgments of the Lockerbie trial and the outcome of the appeal of defendant Abdelbaset Ali Mohamed Al Megrhi in 2002.

Lands Tribunal for Northern Ireland

Official website of the Lands Tribunal for Northern Ireland a court whose role is to settle disputes relating to land and buildings. The Lands Tribunal for Northern Ireland was established by the Lands Tribunal and Compensation Act (NI) 1964 and deals with appeals concerning the valuation of land for rate relief purposes, compensation for the compulsory acquisition of land, renewal of business tenancies and consent for alterations to land.

Disease-i is a subscription website provided by Weightmans, a UK-based firm of solicitors. The site is intended for lawyers dealing with disease claims and provides guidance and background information on a range of related issues. The section headed Legal Principles covers the existence of a duty of care, forseeability, causation and contributory negligence. Other legal topics include insurance histories and coverage, limitation and quantum.

BIALL How Do I? wiki

The How Do I? wiki is written by members of the British and Irish Association of Law Librarians (BIALL) PR and Promotions Committee. The service is aimed at law librarians but is made freely available on the BIALL website. The wiki provides answers to questions asked by law librarians on the Lis-Law jiscmail list and can be accessed by broad subject headings, a detailed alphabetical listing or by using the search engine. Subject headings include legislation, judgments and courts, conventions and treaties, European Union and books and journals.

Stair Society

Website of the Stair Society an organisation established in 1934 "to encourage the study and advance the knowledge of Scots Law by the publication of original documents and by the reprinting and editing of works of sufficient rarity or importance". The site has organisational and membership information about the Society and details are given of the annual lectures held by the Society.

Legal History of Australia and the United Kingdom

A research guide on the legal history of Australia and the UK created and maintained by the Law Library at Melbourne Law School. Links are given to legal history resources and materials held in collections at the University of Melbourne. There are sections including legal history blogs, resources focusing on Australia and the Common Law Tradition and legal history societies and collections.
