Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority

The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) deals with compensation claims from people who have been physically or mentally injured because they were the blameless victim of a violent crime in England, Scotland or Wales. CICA is an executive agency, sponsored by the Ministry of Justice. Its webpages, hosted by the official website Gov.UK, gives access to its reports and other publications.

Motor Accident Solicitors Society

The Motor Accident Solicitors Society (MASS) is a membership organisation for solicitors specialising in road accident claims. Human Rights and Democracy reports

This site provides access to all the Human Rights and Democracy annual reports published by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office from 1998 onwards. They provide detailed information on the strategy and actions of the British government in promoting human rights abroad. They also include comments on FCO activity by the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Select Comittee and key NGO bodies.

The Victims of Crime in Scotland website aims to provide information and advice for victims of crime. The site gives guidance on different aspects of the Scottish Criminal Justice System covering the different stages of the legal process such as reporting a crime, arrest, prosecution, attending court, sentencing and compensation. The Queen Mary Intellectual Property Research Institute (QMIPRI) forms part of the Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary, University of London. The Institute is engaged on research into all aspects of intellectual property law and policy. The website has information about QMIPRI including profiles of faculty staff, brief details of research being carried out and information about seminars training programmes and courses run at QMIPRI.

Govan Law Centre

Website of the Govan Law Centre (GLC) which provides free and low cost legal services for disadvantaged people in Scotland. The site has information about the GLC and its work (including a copy of their annual report) along with contact details for other law centres in Scotland. There is a selection of guides to common legal problems including consumer law, bankruptcy, debt, housing law and neighbour nuisance and a range of money advice resources covering mortgage repossession, benefits and small claims.

IPKat

IPKat is an intellectual property blog produced by a group of UK-based IP lawyers and patent agents. Protecting Pregnant Workers and New Mothers

A Health & Safety Executive (HSE) Web portal which draws together information, legislation and forms covering the health and safety of new and expectant mothers at work. The site provides guidance to legislation including the Management of Health and Safety Regulations 1999, Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992, Employment Rights Act 1996 as amended by the Employment Relations Act 1999 and the Sex Discrimination Act 1975. There is a selection of full-text leaflets and guidance made available in PDF format aimed at working mothers, employers and health professionals.
