Foreign Law Translations

Free database of foreign legislation and cases translated into English, provided by the Institute for Transnational Law at the University of Texas at Austin. Foreign Law Translations makes available translated French, German, Austrian and Israeli cases and French and German legislation in the areas of constitutional, administrative, contract and tort law; most of the content is from France and Germany. The site also has a glossary of French legal terms and a list of German legal abbreviations

Irish Centre for European Law

Website of the Irish Centre for European Law (ICEL) which is based at Trinity College in Dublin. The ICEL is concerned with European Union and European Human Rights law as it affects Ireland. The site provides information about the aims, membership and activities of the Centre. Selected abstracts of conference papers are available free and details are given of publications for sale. A page of Irish web links is also included.

Asian Law Institute

Website of the Asian Law Institute (ASLI) which was set up in March 2003 to "facilitate academic exchanges as well as research and teaching collaboration among law schools in Asia". ASLI is based at the Faculty of Law of the National University of Singapore. The site gives details of the Board of Governors and Fellows of the Institute along with details of conferences and abstracts of seminars held at ASLI.

Kituo Cha Katiba: Eastern African Centre for Constitutional Development

Kituo Cha Katiba is a research centre based at Makerere University. It aims to promote research into constitutionalism, constitutional development, constitutional law in East African nations. Main countries covered are Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zanzibar. The site provides information on the aims and work of the body. It includes access to its annual state of constitutionalism reports from 1999 to date, plus reports from its surveys and fact finding missions in East Africa.

NYU School of Law: Jean Monnet Center

The Jean Monnet Center at New York University School of Law is supported by the European Commission under the Jean Monnet project. The Center is concerned with European integration and its website provides details of the Center's activities, courses and staff, plus useful information for researchers. Jean Monnet Working Papers are available in full text from 1995 onwards; recent working papers have covered cultural diversity, judicial protection of individuals and EU constitutionalism after the failure of the Constitutional Treaty.

UC Berkeley War Crimes Center

The UC Berkeley War Crimes Center was founded in 2000. It is involved in training judges and monitoring and archiving information relating to war crimes trials. Its website provides information on the purpose and activities of the Center. It includes news about ongong trials plus access to full-text documents relating to specific cases. Topics covered include: the Nuremberg 1945 trials, war crimes tribunals and trials relating to Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Indonesia and East Timor.

University of Durham Human Rights Centre

Website of the Human Rights Centre at the University of Durham's Department of Law. The site gives details of research projects being undertaken at the Centre. These are focused on the areas of International Human Rights, European Human Rights and domestic law. There are profiles of staff at the Centre along with a list of their publications. The site also provides a link to the Department of Law's Human Rights Act database containing bibliographical references to articles and cases relating to the Human Rights Act 1998. Links to related human rights websites are also given.
