Reprieve

Reprieve is a London-based charity providing legal representation and assistance for prisoners facing the death penalty and prisoners held beyond the rule of law, for example at Guantanamo Bay; it also investigates and campaigns on issues such as drone attacks and extraordinary rendition. The organisation was founded by human rights lawyer Clive Stafford Smith. The ‘Our Work’ page of its website provides reports, responses to consultations and other publications, together with information and documentation relating to Reprieve investigations and particular prisoners’ cases.

Europeanrights.eu

Website monitoring the protection of fundamental rights in Europe, provided by the University of Bologna’s Interdepartmental centre for research in European Communities Law (CIRDCE), the Lelio and Lisli Basso Foundation and European Magistrates for Democracy and Freedoms (MEDEL). The site makes available a collection of journal articles, studies and other commentary, under ‘Comments’.

European Council on Refugees and Exiles

The European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) is an alliance of European NGOs which help refugees. Its website describes the work of the ECRE, including training courses that it runs, and lists its member organisations. An overview of the situation for refugees in the EU is also provided. The Topics pages have ECRE policy papers, articles and news items regarding access to Europe, resettlement, protection in Europe and third countries, integration and returns. There is also a weekly news bulletin, available from the home page.

Jewish Virtual Library – Israeli Politics

The American-Israeli Cooperative Enterprise (AICE) webpage on Israeli politics. There is information on the formation of a constitution and the structure of the judicial and legislative branches of government. The section entitled Laws and Liberties provides information on freedom of the press, freedom of religion, and background on Supreme Court judgments. The page also provides a link to html copies of the basic laws of Israel.

QC Appointments

Website provided by the Queen’s Counsel Selection Panel’s Secretariat. Has information for applicants for the award of Queen’s Counsel (QC). Also includes press releases, and a statistical breakdown of recent applications by gender, ethnicity, area of law and other criteria.

Tuvalu High Court

Forming part of the PACLII database, this webpage provides links to electronic versions of decisions from the High Court of Tuvalu, from 1982 onwards and is updated on a regular basis. Cases can be browsed both alphabetically or by year. Alternatively, the database search option can be selected, which will allow key word searching across the whole data file.

Care Quality Commission

The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of all health and adult social care services in England. Its website provides information about what people can expect from health and social care providers, as well as results of reports and inspections. These can be searched by name, location or postcode, and are available to download in PDF format. The site also provides additional links to relevant health and social care organisations and information services.

Samoa Primary Materials

Forming part of the PACLII database, this webpage provides free access to Samoan legal materials including case law and legislation. An unofficial version of the 2024 Consolidated Legislation of Samoa, cases from many different Samoan courts, rules of court, New Zealand legislation which may apply in Samoa, selected Western Samoa Law Reports (1921 – 1993) and consolidated laws back to 1996 are all provided.
