Hungarian Civil Liberties Union

The Hungarian Civil Liberties Union (HCLU) is a human rights NGO founded in 1994. HCLU monitors legislation, provides free legal aid and training and campaigns to raise awareness around human rights issues. The site has information on a range of human rights issues in Hungary including freedom of information, right to self-determination, disability rights, patients’ rights, drug policy, freedom of expression and data protection.

Kemitraan Partnership

Website of the Kemitraan Partnership, a non-profit civil law association based in Indonesia. The organisation was originally set up in 2000 as the Partnership for Governance Reform by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and since 2003 has been an independent  legal entity. Kemitraan manages programs focusing on anti-corruption and accountability issues with the aim of establishing fair, democratic and sustainable governance in Indonesia. The site gives information on the organisation’s work along with publications and annual reports.

Anti-Counterfeiting Group

Website of the Anti-Counterfeiting Group (ACG) an international  membership organisation representing businesses, brand owners, specialist lawyers and trademark agents. The ACG works with UK, EU and international governments and law enforcement agencies to tackle crime in counterfeit and pirated goods. There is information about the work of the ACG, news and events and a directory of members. Information guides are given on the dangers of fakes, intellectual property crime and proceeds of crime.

Center for Civil Liberties

The Center for Civil Liberties is a Ukrainian NGO established in 2007 to promote the protection of human rights in Ukraine. Its work includes documenting war crimes (part of the 'Tribunal for Putin' initiative) and campaigning for the release of political prisoners. The website provides information about the Center's aims and activities and help for victims of human rights abuses. There is a map of enforced disappearances in Ukraine, accompanied by instructions for the relatives of the disappeared.

Welsh Legal History Society

The Welsh Legal History Society was founded in 1999 to promote interest and research into the history of law in Wales. Contents pages of the Society’s journal and a selection of full text articles are available on the site. There is also a selection of research resources aimed at researchers of Welsh legal history along with a page of links to databases and repositories containing historical legal materials. The site can be viewed in English and Welsh.

Refugee Council of Australia

Website of the Refugee Council of Australia (RCOA) the national umbrella body for refugees. The RCOA is a non-profit organisation supporting refugees and conducting research and policy analysis. The site has information aimed at lawyers dealing with asylum claims, other service providers and refugees wanting to settle in Australia. There are also guides to Australia’s asylum policies and refugees and international law.

Centre of Policy and Legal Reform

The Centre of Policy and Legal Reform (CPLR) is a Ukrainian organisation whose aim is to strengthen democracy, rule of law and good governance in Ukraine. The site has information on the various projects the CPLR is working on which include an assessment of the Ukrainian justice system and a report on state anti-corruption policy. Details of publications are given (some in full text) and a weekly newsletter covers events concerning constitutionalism, political parties and elections, governance and the judiciary in Ukraine. Annual reports can be downloaded in PDF.

Parliamentary Monitoring Group

The Parliamentary Monitoring Group (PMG) provides access to committee proceedings of the South African National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces (upper chamber) in the form of detailed, unofficial minutes. Details of public hearings and ministerial replies to MPs' written questions are given and it is also possible to track the progress of bills and view the act in full text. Information is given on the provincial legislatures including profiles of members, committees and contact details. The PMG blog highlights important Parliamentary events of the current week.

People’s Assembly

Website of the People’s Assembly, a not for profit organisation, which aims to “promote accountability and bridge the gap between ordinary people and their elected representatives” in South Africa.

It is possible to search for elected representatives by name or location and profiles and contact details are given for all members of the National Assembly, National Council of Provinces and Provincial Legislatures. There is also guidance for citizens on making a submission to parliament, starting a petition and writing or visiting a parliamentary committee.
