South African Government Information: documents

This part of the South African Government Information website provides access to government publications including legislation, policy documents and documentation provided on provincial government websites. The site offers full text legislation including a copy of the Constitution. There are government notices, documents open for public comment, annual reports of government departments and agencies and downloadable forms.

Constitution of the Republic of Vanuatu

Consolidated 2006 version of the Constitution of Vanuatu, available on the PacLII website. The Constitution includes chapters dealing with state and sovereignty, fundamental rights and duties, citizenship, the role of the President, parliament and the National Council of Chiefs, justice, administration, land and emergency powers. PacLII (Pacific Islands Legal Information Institute) is a joint initiative involving the University of the South Pacific and the Australasian Legal Information Institute.

Constitution of Norway

The Constitution of Norway is available in English on the website the Norwegian Parliament. The Constitution was adopted in 1814 and this version incorporates amendments. Areas covered include the form of government and religion, the executive, legislative and judicial powers, the king and the royal family, the rights of citizens and general provisions.

Basic Laws of Israel

The Basic Laws of Israel, made freely available on the website of the Knesset (the Israeli Parliament). The site includes an introduction to the Basic Laws, a summary of each law, a link to the full text and to details of the Knesset that passed each law. There are Basic Laws covering the following areas: the Knesset; Israel Lands; President of the State; the Government; the State Economy; the Army; Jerusalem, Capital of Israel; the Judiciary; the State Comptroller; Human Dignity and Liberty; the government and Freedom of Occupation.

Laws of Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie and Oeno Islands

Laws of the Pitcairn Islands, provided on the official website of the Pitcairn Islands Government. The Pitcairn Islands group comprises the islands of Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie and Oeno and is a British Overseas Territory. This online version of the 'Revised Edition of the Laws of Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie and Oeno 2001' contains the ordinances and subsidiary legislation in force on the 31 December 2000, with subsequent amendments. The laws can be browsed alphabetically by title and searched by keyword.

Law & Justice Zimbabwe

Website providing access to the law and legal information of Zimbabwe, provided Aripano Infinity, a web developer based in Harare in Zimbabwe. The site offers full-text Zimbabwean legislation covering a range of subject areas including local government, administration of justice, civil law and procedure, citizenship and immigration, environment, agriculture, commerce and industry, telecommunications and health. Judgments of the Supreme Court and High Court are available in full for the years 2003 to 2007.

Municipal Code Corporation online library

Municipal Code Corporation is a company publishing United States municipal, city and county codes and providing online access to these documents via their subscription website Municode.com. This service includes a free online library providing access to full text Codes of Ordinances, minutes and local government charters for a selection of city governments. These are arranged by state and can be accessed using a clickable map. Contact addresses and web links are also given for each city government. Other documents can be purchased on the site.

Migration Law Database

The Migration Law Database is made freely available online by the International Organization for Migration, an inter-governmental body providing services and advice to governments and migrants. The database provides access to full text international, regional and national laws relating to migration and can be browsed or searched by keyword. The basic search option covers the title, document number, date of adoption and a selection of subject categories including asylum, children, deportation, diasporas, extradition, indigenous peoples, migrant workers, nationality and repatriation.

Somaliland Law

Website providing information on the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Somaliland. Somaliland is a breakaway territory established in the north of Somalia in 1991 that is not currently recognised by the international community. Somaliland Law is edited by UK-based lawyer Ibrahim Hashi Jama. It offers a profile of Somaliland and articles and commentary relating to Somaliland law. The Constitutions of 1991 and 1960 are available, with details of developments in constitutional law.

Compilation of information and documents from the drafting history of the Hong Kong's Basic Law (constitution), provided by of the Centre for Comparative and Public Law and the University of Hong Kong Libraries.
