Public bodies publications

This collection, provided by the Cabinet Office brings together all documents relating to public bodies. This includes documents related to reform of public bodies, public bodies and guidance for departments. The reports provide data relating to each executive agency, non-departmental public body, and non-ministerial department. Includes annual editions of the annual publication (now ceased), Public Bodies, 1997 to 2015.

GOV.UK: Publications

Database of UK official publications provided on the government website, GOV.UK. Includes research papers, statistics, consultation documents, act papers (documents laid before Parliament under the authority of acts of Parliament), administrative decisions (e.g. Intellectual Property Office decisions), policy papers, official guidance, impact assessments, Freedom of Information releases, some treaties and various other government publications. Some types of publication are only available from around 2010 onwards, but some are available as far back as the 1980s - and earlier.

Parliamentary Research Publications

This page, on the UK Parliament website, provides free access to publications produced by the House of Commons and House of Lords libraries. There are Research Briefings providing detailed introductions to a range of topics available back to 1996. There are also Business Briefings providing impartial summaries and analyses of events and situations relevant to current parliamentary interest.

Bloody Sunday Inquiry

Bloody Sunday is the name commonly used to describe the incident on 30th January 1972 when a number of protesters were shot and killed by the RUC/armed forces in Northern Ireland. A re-investigation of the events was ordered by the British government in 1998. The Inquiry was chaired by Lord Saville. Its multi-volume report is available here on archived pages of the UK Government website.

Ministry of Justice: Procedure Rules

Collection of procedure rules for different types of litigation in England and Wales, provided by the UK Ministry of Justice. Consists of the Civil Procedure Rules, Criminal Procedure Rules, Family Procedure Rules and other rules that apply to the magistrates courts and Crown Court. Practice directions, court forms and court guides are also available.  

Memorandum search

This website is produced by the Cabinet Office’s European and Global Issues Secretariat. It makes available the Secretariat’s explanatory memoranda concerning European Union legislative and policy initiatives, in a searchable database.

European Commission: Competition

Website of the European Commission’s Competition Directorate-General, covering six policy areas: antitrust, cartels, mergers, state aid, liberalisation and international matters. The site includes a substantial database of Commission competition decisions, together with lists of national court cases concerning EU competition law. It also provides EU competition legislation, reports, studies, press releases, notices from the Official Journal and additional information.

Gammel's The Laws of Texas 1822-1897

Digitised version Gammel's 'The Laws of Texas', provided by the Government Documents Department of the University of North Texas Libraries. Gammel's work is a compilation of the laws of the US State of Texas from 1822 to 1897, including early colonisation laws, constitutions, congressional sessions, legislative sessions and select journals. The site has been designed to replicate a traditional page-by-page reading experience and includes a digitised version of the original Analytical Index, which is arranged alphabetically.
