Union of International Associations (UIA)

The Union of International Associations was founded in 1907. It is an independent non-governmental organisation which aims to facilitate the evolution of a worldwide network of non-profit organisations. It promotes research on the legal and political problems facing these bodies. The UIA website has information on the purpose of the organisation, a list of members, and details of UIA publications, including reports, research studies and guidelines for NGO action. There is also a news section.

Chambre des Députés du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg

The website of the Parliament of Luxembourg offers information on the organisation, membership and activities of the parliament. It includes press releases, access to live web content of the proceeedings, lists of members, committee programmes and fact sheets on parliamentary organisation in Luxembourg. Users should note that most information is currently offered in French only.

European Patent Office

The EPO's website has a Law and Practice section which includes the European Patent Convention (EPC), the EPO's Official Journal (OJ), legislation, guidelines and case law. The European Patent Register is also available on the site, together with news, factsheets and other information. The site is available in English, French or German.

International Labour Organization (ILO)

The International Labour Organization (ILO) is a specialised agency of the United Nations which seeks to promote employment rights, human rights and social justice. The website gives details of the ILO's history, structure and work programmes. It provides numerous free databases of labour-related information and documentation, including national labour laws, international labour standards, treaty information, statistics and a bibliography compiled by the ILO Library.

Verdragenbank

Free database of treaty information on the Dutch government website, Overheid.nl. Covers treaties to which the Netherlands is a party and/or the depositary. Includes the title, the date the treaty came into force, the parties, where the treaty is published, renunciations, declarations and depositary notifications. Provides links to the text of each treaty in the Tractatenblad ('Treaty Series') or other official sources, in Dutch. The search interface is available in either English or Dutch.

Pacific Islands Treaty Series

A Pacific Islands Legal Information Institute (PacLII) resource containing bilateral and multilateral treaties affecting Pacific Island countries and last updated in 2009. The interface is available in English or French. Under "Other Resources", there is background information about each country and details of treaty-making procedures, along with a glossary of treaty terms. PacLII is a joint initiative involving the University of the South Pacific and the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII).

European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT)

The European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) is a Council of Europe human rights body. Its mandate is to monitor the treatment of detainees and prisoners in its member nations in order to protect and promote their human rights. Its website provides information on the aims of the organisation, its operation and activities. It includes press releases, annual reports and reports on individual nations from 1989 to date.

Benin Government Portal

This official website gives an overview of Benin's history, economy, society and infrastructure, together with information about government departments and other bodies, including the High Court of Justice, the National Assembly, the Constitutional Court and the President of the Republic. There is a News page, and links are given to the Presidency website, the legislation portal and so on. The site is in French.

Lois et règlements

The Constitution and selected, codes, laws and treaties of Sénégal, as published on the official Government website. The laws and interface are presented in French, which is the official language of the Republic of Sénégal. There are codes covering a number of areas including telecommunications, environment, investment and forestry. A copy of the Constitution and other laws and regulations are also presented. All the legislation can be downloaded in full. The site can be viewed in French throughout

Avocats Sans Frontières

Avocats Sans Frontières (ASF) is a Belgium-based international NGO. Its membership mostly consists of lawyers and its aim is to promote justice and the rule of law, and to defend the civil, political and other rights of the most vulnerable people in the world. The group's "Lawyers for Lawyers" project aims to support human rights lawyers whose professional independence is under threat. Press releases, a free newsletter, activity reports and other publications are available on the website, plus details of ASF seminars and training. The site can be viewed in English, French or Dutch.
