Fedflix: free film from US government

FedFlix, available from the Internet Archive, was a collaboration between the US National Technical Information Service and Public.Resource.Org. It provides free access to films from branches of the American government, including public information films and historic film clips and footage from the National Archives, the Department of War, the United States Forest Service, the Federal Civil Defense Administration and other departments. The site, which was archived in 2008, includes information on sources, copyright and technical details. 

China Patent Agent (H.K.)

Website of China Patent Agent (H.K.) a firm of patent and trademark attorneys established in 1984 as a quasi government entity to provide legal services for overseas clients. The site provides information on Chinese patent laws which can be downloaded from the site in English. The laws cover patents, trademarks, copyright, layout design of integrated circuits, new plant varieties and cyber law (domain name disputes). There are also international treaties, case summaries, a selection of FAQs and forms to download. The site can be viewed in English, German, Japanese and Chinese.

ASIL Insight: Copenhagen Climate Change Accord

This issue of ASIL Insight focuses on the Copenhagen Climate Change Accord. ASIL Insights is a free online newsletter produced by the American Society of International Law. ASIL Insights publishes pieces highlighting developments in international law, aiming to inform decision-makers, the legal profession and the public. The author of this issue is Daniel Bodansky who is the Emily and Ernest Woodruff Professor of International Law at the University of Georgia School of Law.

CourtWEB

CourtWEB is the online federal court opinions information system hosted by the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvannia. Selected opinions of the United States federal courts are provided by judges who have chosen to make them available. The site does not provide a complete collection of court opinions. CourtWEB can be searched by keywords in the full text of the opinion limiting by court or by searching the case number, judge, keywords and date fields.

Due Process of Law Foundation

The Due Process of Law Foundation (DPLF) is a private, non-profit organisation which aims to promote "the reform and modernization of Latin America's national justice systems to ensure that the rule of law and respect for human rights are the hallmarks of justice systems throughout the Americas." DPLF's activities include research and training focusing on international justice, judicial accountability and transparency and equal access to justice. Details of activities and publications relating to each area can be viewed on the site.

Disclosing Justice: a study on access to judicial information in Latin America

Report by the Due Process of Law Foundation (DPLF), looking at the legal frameworks for access to judicial information (including freedom of information laws) in the following Latin American countries: Argentina; Chile; Colombia; the Dominican Republic; Ecuador; Honduras; Mexico; Panama; Peru and Uruguay. For each country there is information on the availability of administrative information (financial, statistical and personnel) and case law. The report also outlines the legal instruments that provide access to information and looks at how the information is provided.

Judicial Officers Association of South Africa

Website of the Judicial Officers Association of South Africa (JOASA) the organisation representing members of the judiciary in South Africa. The site provides outline information on the organisation including contact details for officials and copies of reports produced by the various JOASA committees. Full text copies of JOASAãs journal and newsletters are made freely available on the site in HTML. Links to South African courts and sites providing online legislation are also given.

Judiciary of Malta

Website of the Judiciary of Malta providing information about the work of judges, magistrates and the Maltese courts. Information on judicial assistants and jurors is also given. A selection of articles detailing the history and development of the Maltese judicial system can be viewed in PDF. There is information on the court system providing details of the functions of the Inferior and Superior courts including the Constitutional Court, Court of Appeal, Civil Court, Criminal Court and the courts in Gozo.

Gender equality

Council of Europe factsheet focusing on judgments of the European Court of Human Rights dealing with human rights violations affecting women. It comments on important cases dealing with domestic violence, discrimination against single mothers, the right to keep a maiden name, protection of physical integrity and protection against trafficking in human beings. Links are given to CoE web pages dealing with gender equality and to the judgments mentioned in the factsheet.

National Sea Grant Law Center

Website of the National Sea Grant Law Center (SGLC) a United States research body founded in 2002 and based at the University of Mississippi. The Center "conducts research on marine laws and policies, coordinates ocean and coastal law researchers, and disseminates information to coastal and ocean policy-makers". Sea Grant is a partnership between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and universities that work with coastal communities conducting research, education, outreach and technology transfer.
