Victorian Legislation and Parliamentary Documents

Online repository of legislation of Victoria made freely available by the Department of Premier and Cabinet in Melbourne, Australia. The site provides full-text Parliamentary documents including bills currently before Parliament, Victorian Hansard Online and Parliamentary documents for the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. Archives are available back to 1996. The Victorian Statute Book has acts and statutory rules back to 1996. This material is arranged by date and can be browsed alphabetically or by number or searched by keyword.

A.C.T. Legislation Register

The ACT (Australian Capital Territory) Legislation Register is hosted by the Parliamentary Counsel's Office in Canberra, Australia. It was established under the Legislation Act 2001 in order to make Australian Capital Territory legislation more accessible. The website presents all acts and subordinate laws (rules and regulations) along with disallowable instruments, approved forms, notifiable instruments and commencement notices made under authorising laws. Also included are bills which are currently before the Legislative Assembly.

Parliament of South Australia

Official website of the Parliament of South Australia. The site has background information about the Parliament including history, how Parliament works, the system of government and information about Parliament House (including a virtual tour which requires IPIX plug -in). The role of the House of Assembly and the Legislative Council is dealt with giving profiles of each member, a calendar of sitting days and notice papers giving details of current business.

Law Society of South Africa

The LSSA is the professional body for lawyers in South Africa. Its website includes guidance for lawyers, careers information and regulatory material, including the Legal Practice Act. It also has information for the public about obtaining legal advice and making complaints about legal services, together with a set of briefings on topics such as inheritance, house sales/purchases, consumer rights, fines, small claims, road accident claims and visas. The site also provides legal news, a directory of lawyers and the Law Society's journal, De Rebus.

Legalbrief

Legalbrief is an online news service covering South Africa and other African jurisdictions. It is provided by South African legal publisher Juta Law. Some content is free, but for the most part it is a subscription service.

Researching South African law

Online guide to researching South African law written by Amanda Barratt and Pamela Snyman who are law librarians at the University of Cape Town Law Library. The guide has been updated by Redson Kapindu who is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Johannesburg. The guide was published in 2005 and updated in 2018 on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. The authors give background and historical information to the structure of the state including the Constitution, Parliament and judicial system.

Free online directory of United States expert witnesses, published by legal journalism company American Lawyer Media (ALM). The directory can be searched by name, state, company or area of expertise or browsed by state or area of expertise. The site also has legal news stories.
