Union of International Associations (UIA)

The Union of International Associations was founded in 1907. It is an independent non-governmental organisation which aims to facilitate the evolution of a worldwide network of non-profit organisations. It promotes research on the legal and political problems facing these bodies. The UIA website has information on the purpose of the organisation, a list of members, and details of UIA publications, including reports, research studies and guidelines for NGO action. There is also a news section.

Crown Prosecution Service

Website of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) the "Government Department responsible for prosecuting criminal cases investigated by the police in England and Wales." The site contains background information about the CPS including its history and role. There are pages aimed at victims of crime, contact details of local offices and press releases. The site also gives legal guidance for prosecutors and caseworkers covering the various types of offences, witnesses, case preparation, appeals, trial issues and sentencing.

Folktinget

The Folketinget is the parliament of Denmark. Its website is available in both English and Danish. The English version offers information on the history and duties of the Danish parliament. It includes information about electoral administration and the electoral laws. The Danish version provides more detailed information about parliamentary business. It offers the full text of all official documents produced during the current session, including parliamentary debates, parliamentary bills and committee documents.

Child Welfare Information Gateway

Child Welfare Information Gateway is a service of the Children's Bureau, part of Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It is a national resource for professionals in the United States seeking information on adoption, child welfare and child abuse and neglect. It includes online publications and fact sheets, summaries of state statutes, clearinghouse catalogue, specialised services, online databases and directories, and related sites.

British Journal of Criminology

Published on behalf of the Institute for the Study and Treatment of Deliquency by Oxford University Press, BJC is the leading European journal in the field. The Web page contains contents tables and abstracts of past and current issues, together with information about subscriptions, the editorial board, advertising rates and instructions for prospective authors. The article titles and abstracts can be searched by keyword and there is a facility for emailing new tables of contents.

Project on Government Secrecy

The Project on Government Secrecy has been set up by the Federation of American Scientists to challenge excessive government secrecy and to promote public oversight and Freedom of Information in the USA. The site provides details of the project and campaign successes. There is access to a government secrecy blog, Bush administration secrecy blog, declassification strategies, delcassified US government documents and other FOIA resources.

European Patent Office

The EPO's website has a Law and Practice section which includes the European Patent Convention (EPC), the EPO's Official Journal (OJ), legislation, guidelines and case law. The European Patent Register is also available on the site, together with news, factsheets and other information. The site is available in English, French or German.

Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities

The home page for the Directorate General of Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities of the European Commission. Its mission is to promote a high level of employment and social protection, to raise the standard of living and quality of life, and to promote economic and social cohesion and solidarity among Member States. It also tackles discrimination. These pages provide information and news on the various areas of activity currently undertaken. The e-library contains details of publications, including those of the former DG, with links to many of them in full text.

Institute of Criminal Justice Studies (ICJS), University of Portsmouth

The Institute of Criminal Justice Studies of the University of Portsmouth is a multi-disciplinary unit providing higher education programmes and conducting research in criminal justice, criminology and police studies. The site includes information about the Institute, staff, courses and research degrees. A bibliography of Institute publications, going back to 2001, can be browsed by date.
