Lawyer Portal

The Lawyer Portal is a free resource provided by The Career Portal, in partnership with the Bar Council and the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, and aimed at anyone considering a career in law. The site has free guides covering topics of interest to sixth formers, university students and graduates including law apprenticeships, choosing a university course, work experience and pupillage. These are written by professional lawyers and education experts. The site also offers career tips, details of events, free learning materials and teachers’ guides.

Associação dos Advogados de Macau

Website of the Macau Lawyers Association, a membership organisation for legal practitioners working in the Macau Special Administrative Region. The site includes a directory of members that can be searched by company or individual lawyer. There are also regulatory documents including the statutes and disciplinary code of the Association. The site can be viewed in Portuguese and Chinese only.

Young Legal Aid Lawyers

Young Legal Aid Lawyers (YLAL) is a group of lawyers who are committed to practising in the areas of criminal and civil law that have traditionally been publically funded. The website contains information about the groups objectives, the committee members and the work of sub-groups. Meeting minutes are available, as is a collection of articles, briefings, reports and consultation responses.

Athens Bar Association

Website of the Athens Bar Association. Describes the organisation and its work. Provides the Lawyers’ Code, news, recent legislation and other information.The site is entirely in Greek, except for a small English section which introduces the Assocation and gives contact details.

Costs Lawyer Standards Board

The Costs Lawyer Standards Board (CLSB) has been an approved regulator under the Legal Services Act 2007 since 31 October 2011. The website contains a register of costs lawyers authorised and regulated by the CLSB. It also makes available the Costs Lawyer Handbook, comprising of the Code of Conduct, Practising Rules, Disciplinary Rules and Procedures, CPD Rules, Training Rules and other regulatory information and guidance for costs lawyers. The website includes copies of the annual accounts of the CLSB, their business plan and board minutes.

Public Defender Service

The Public Defender Service (PDS) is a department of the Legal Aid Agency providing a range of criminal defence services including advice and representation at the police station or magistrates court through to advocacy in the higher courts. The PDS was established in 2001 as the first salaried criminal defence service in England and Wales and provides legal aided defence representation in all types of criminal cases.

Advocate Khoj

Advocate Khoj is an Indian law website intended for the general public. Its main purpose is to put people with legal problems in touch with qualified lawyers, via the ‘Post your Case’ section; registration is required to use this service, but there is no charge. Advocate Khoj also provides primary and secondary Indian legislation, Indian Supreme Court judgments, official forms, a glossary and other Indian legal information.

UK Law Societies’ Joint Brussels Office

Website of the UK Law Societies’ Joint Brussels Office the body that represents UK solicitors with the European institutions. The Joint Brussels Office works with the Law Society of England and Wales, Law Society of Scotland and Law Society of Northern Ireland. They support solicitors by providing information on EU legislation and policies that are relevant to the profession, guidance on practicing in the EU and advice on the effects of Brexit on the legal profession.
