Website of the Shidler Center for Law, Commerce and Technology at the School of Law, University of Washington in Seattle, US. The Center was established to provide leadership in teaching, research and policy analysis in the legal aspects of emerging technologies. In its website, the Center places an emphasis on the role of the consumer in the complex electronic marketplace, and focuses on telecommunications and other policy issues relating to the internet and e-commerce.

World Intellectual Property Organization Arbitration and Mediation Center

Internet site for the World Intellectual Property Organization's Arbitration and Mediation Center. The Center was established in Geneva, Switzerland in 1994 to offer dispute resolution advisory services, particularly in international commercial disputes between private parties. The site publishes information about the Center, its work in arbitration and mediation and its staff. There are sections offering information on arbitration, mediation, expert determination and domain name dispute resolution. The sections include general information, decisions, fees and rules.

Pipers Virtual Intellectual Property Library

This site is dedicated to patent, copyright, trademark and intellectual property information. It has been developed by the New Zealand patent and trademark attorneys, Pipers. The site provides guidance and information on intellectual property issues with separate sections aimed at small businesses, inventors and corporate officers. In-house articles on various aspects of IP law are also made freely available on the site. Other facilities include a directory of patent attorneys with contact details and website links, a glossary of IP terms and links to New Zealand patent organisations.

Stanford Technology Law Review

Website of the Stanford Technology Law Review (STLR), an online technology law journal from Stanford Law School in the United States. The journal contains scholarly articles on technology and the law, covering the intersection of law, science and technology, and public policy. Articles can be downloaded in pdf format back to about 2017, and abstracts are available back to 2012. The symposia feature includes papers from the STLR online symposia. There are also working papers, student notes and perspectives offering news and comments on aspects of technology and the law.

Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers

Website of ICANN, a technical coordination body for the internet. It is a non-profit corporation which coordinates the assignment of IP addresses, domain names, and protocol parameters. The site has organisational information, details of staff members and news items including an archive of ICANN's weekly newsletter. There is information on current and past topics the organisation is concerned with, details of committees and working groups and financial information.

Japan Patent Office

Website of the Japanese Patent Office. The site includes a history and outline of the industrial property system in Japan. There is guidance on obtaining rights in Japan and information on the role and organisation of the Patent Office. There are also features on legislation and practice changes and the promotion policy for patent distribution. The text of selected committee documents, reports and speeches are available in full-text and there is a link to the Japanese Industrial Property Digital Library (NPDL). The site can be viewed in English and Japanese.

Canadian Trademarks Database

The Canadian Intellectual Property Office's Canadian Trademarks Database enables users to search for all active and many inactive trademarks in Canada along with words and designs that are not strictly trademarks. Keywords can be used in a variety of search fields including owner name, trademark description and registration number. Trademarks can also be searched by date, category and status. Records can be downloaded in full and there is guidance on searching the database. Users can search either an English or French language version of the same database.

Canadian Patents Database

The Canadian Intellectual Property Office's Canadian Patents Database provides access to patent descriptions and images from 1869 to the present day. The database contains over 2 million patent documents which can be searched for using either keywords, the patent document number, a boolean search or an advanced field-specific search strategy. Users can search either an English or French language version of the same database. For patents granted prior to 15th August 1978, the text of the abstracts and claims is not available.

Canadian Intellectual Property Office

Official website of the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO), which is a Special Operating Agency associated with the government department Industry Canada. The CIPO is responsible for the administration and processing of much of the intellectual property in Canada and has official responsibilities in regard to patents, trade-marks, copyrights, industrial designs and integrated circuit topographies.
