Sustainable Development Law (SDL) research guide

Online guide to Sustainable Development Law, written by Gary Yessin, Reference Librarian at Florida A&M University College of Law. The article was originally published in 2006 (and updated in 2024 by Charlotte Daugherty) on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School at the NYU, School of Law. The author gives an introduction to the law relating to sustainable development and lists books on the subject. It also provides links to treaties, legal journals and research guides, along with a list of abbreviations.

International Judicial Monitor

International Judicial Monitor is an online journal produced by the International Judicial Academy in Washington D.C. and supported by the American Society of International Law. It focuses on international law and its primary target audience consists of those involved in judicial work, as well as other legal professionals. The publication has legal news stories, commentary, case law and book reviews. Other regular features include profiles of judges and background articles on courts and tribunals around the world.

Global Legal Monitor

Online publication by the Law Library of Congress in the US, providing information on legal developments from around the world. Content can be filtered by jurisdiction and year and there is a search facility. Sources include press reports and official publications.

A basic guide to international environmental legal research

Online guide to international environmental legal research written by Heidi Frostestad Kuehl, who is Director of the David C. Shapiro Memorial Law Library. The guide was last updated in 2022 and is available on New York University's Globalex website. It covers commonly-used abbreviations, treaty research, finding national environmental laws, key online resources, international organizations, legal blogs and current awareness tools.

Migration Information Source

Migration Information Source is the online journal of the Migration Policy Institute, an independent think-tank based in Washington, DC. It covers migration, immigration, asylum and refugees and includes news, research, country profiles, statistics and information about US policy. Content can be browsed by date, region or type of material.

Humboldt Forum Recht

Humboldt Forum Recht is a German-language web journal, produced by the law department of Humboldt University in Berlin since 1996. It covers a wide range of legal themes, including foreign law and EU law. The contents are searchable; alternatively, the journal can be browsed by author, volume, or type of material. A free newsletter is also available on the website, for which users need to register. 

Audiovisual Library of International Law

The Audiovisual Library of International Law is a free multimedia resource compiled by the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs. It consists of the Historic Archives, the Lecture Series and the Research Library. The Historic Archives collection focuses on key legal instruments covering a wide range of international law topics; documentary and audiovisual materials, including video and audio recordings and photographs, are provided for each legal instrument.
