European Central Bank (ECB)

The European Central Bank (ECB) implements the monetary policy of the European Union, and in particular maintains the European System of Central Banks. It is the central bank for the European single currency, the euro. Its website has news, statistics and information on the euro, monetary policy, payments and markets. The ECB's reports, reviews and papers are available on the website, as are its Monthly Bulletin, Economic Bulletin

Publications Office

The Publications Office of the European Union is the European Union's official publisher. Its website includes the EU Bookshop as well as links to key resources including EUR-Lex, Tenders Electronic Daily (TED), the EU Open Data Portal, the CORDIS research and innovation database and EU Who Is Who. It also provides background information about the Publications Office and a newsletter which covers EU policy and recent publications. The interface is available in all the EU languages.

European Commission Press Release Database

The European Commission Press Release Database (sometimes known as Rapid) contains press releases, factsheets and other bulletins issued by the European Commission, as well as press releases from the Council of the EU, the Court of Justice and some other EU institutions (but not the European Parliament). It is managed by the Communication department of the European Commission. It includes all Commission press releases since 1985. The content is accessible without registration and RSS feeds are also available to all users.

European Scrutiny Committee

The European Scrutiny Committee is a permanent cross-party committee of the House of Commons. It assess draft EU legislation which has been deposited in Parliament by the Government. Its website makes available the Committee's reports from November 1996 to date, minutes from November 2009 to date, ministerial correspondence with the Committee, background papers and details of inquiries by the Committee. European Investment Bank (EIB)

The European Investment Bank is the official body which finances capital investment in the EU and seeks to promote European Union economic policy. Its activities include: fostering economic development of the poorer European regions, financing urban renewal projects and promoting competitiveness of industry. The EIB website contains the full-text of the statute which sets out its role, it also includes its most recent annual report, press releases and other publications. Information is also available on current projects and there is a list of recent publications.

Academy of European Law

The Academy of European Law was established by the European University Institute (EUI) in 1990 to promote teaching and scholarship in the fields of European Union Law and Human Rights Law. It holds annual advanced-level courses on these subjects and publishes the content as Collected Courses of the Academy of European Law. Full details of the courses and the Academy's special projects are given on the website.

European University Institute

The European University Institute was founded in 1972 by the European Community Member States to provide advanced academic and cultural training on a European basis. Its website offers information on the purpose of the Institute and details of its ongoing research. The site provides free access to the EUI publications repository, Cadmus, which contains bibliographic details of books, articles and theses and full text content of EUI working papers.

European Court of Auditors

The European Court of Auditors (ECA) was created in 1977 and acts as the official auditor of European Union finances. Its website offers details of the role and purpose of the ECA, its annual reports on the EU budget from 1977 onwards and the external auditor's reports from 1997 onwards. It also has a collection of ECA opinions going back to 1977 (via Browse Publiactions, on the home page) as well as briefing papers, background papers, reports, speeches and other documents. The Library pages include a bibliography concerning the EU budget.

European Integration Online Papers

European Integration Online Papers (EIoP) is an ejournal published by the European Communities Studies Association, Austria (ECSA-A). It covers the historical, political, legal, economic and sociological aspects of European Integration. Past issues covered include: monetary policy, enlargement of the EU, governance of Europe, European constitution, single European Currency (Euro) and citizenship. The full text of each paper is provided in HTML or PDF. Papers from 1997 to 2005 can be browsed by subject- political science, law, economics or sociology- or searched by title or author.

Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities

The home page for the Directorate General of Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities of the European Commission. Its mission is to promote a high level of employment and social protection, to raise the standard of living and quality of life, and to promote economic and social cohesion and solidarity among Member States. It also tackles discrimination. These pages provide information and news on the various areas of activity currently undertaken. The e-library contains details of publications, including those of the former DG, with links to many of them in full text.
