Official website of the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO), which is a Special Operating Agency associated with the government department Industry Canada. The CIPO is responsible for the administration and processing of much of the intellectual property in Canada and has official responsibilities in regard to patents, trade-marks, copyrights, industrial designs and integrated circuit topographies. The website provides searchable databases relating to patents, copyright, trademarks and industrial designs, as well as detailed guidance, legislation, forms, notices, FAQs and glossaries. There is a page devoted to policy consultations and a general page designed to inform business, the education sector and the general public about IP issues. Publications available on the site include the Manual of Patent Office Practice (MOPOP), Trademarks Journal (2000 -) and the Canadian Patent Office Record (1999 - ). The site is in French and English.
