Web pages of the New York State Task Force on Life and the Law, on the website of the State's Department of Health. The Task Force was formed in 1985, and convenes to consider important public policy issues to do with advances in medicine. A fact sheet on the website outlines the Task Force's mandate, and how its recommendations have had an impact on US legislation and court decisions. Selected Task Force reports are available, on topics such as organ donation, genetic testing and screening, assisted suicide and euthanasia, influenza pandemics, dietary supplements and the health care proxy law. Other features include links to selected court decisions on assisted suicide, and information for consumers on infertility, egg donation and planning for medical treatment. Current projects are outlined; they include stem cell research, organ donation and allocation of ventilators in an influenza pandemic.
