Indigenous Law Centre of Canada

Website of the Indigenous Law Centre of Canada (formerly the Native Law Centre) at the University of Saskatchewanan, which is dedicated to the study and development of indigenous law in Canada. The work of the Centre involves running educational programs, conducting research and developing publications with the aim of assisting in the formulation of policy and justice in the areas of Aboriginal rights in Canada and around the world.

Centre for Corporate and Commercial Law, University of Cambridge

The Centre for Corporate and Commercial Law (3CL), University of Cambridge, was established in 1997. It promotes research on corporate and commercial law through conferences, research support, fellowships, visiting fellows, and publications. This site outlines all of its activities over the past five years, and profiles the research interests of key members of staff and the management committee. A schedule of forthcoming seminars and conferences is included, as are profiles of recent publications, including the Journal of Corporate Law Studies (JCLS).

International Law Institute

The International Law Institute is a non-profit research and educational institution based in Washington, DC, USA. It organises training programmes on different aspects of law, including international law, trade law, international development, and the US legal system. A schedule of forthcoming training programmes is available, with details of course content and intended participants and costs. Training topics include evaluation systems, procurement, and legal drafting. An annual orientation course on the US legal system is also publicised.

Charity Law Unit

Web pages of the Charity Law Unit at the School of Law, University of Liverpool. The Unit was established in 1994 to develop research and teaching on charity law in the UK. The site presents details of its research, conferences, courses, seminars and teaching. Lists of recent publications, conference papers, seminar presentations and recent theses are available; a few of these have links to the full text.

Institute of Applied Research (IAR)

Website of the Institute of Applied Research (IAR) an independent, not-for-profit research and consulting organisation based in St. Louis, Missouri. The Institute conducts research and provides "... technical assistance services to state governments and agencies and other public service and community organizations". Programme areas include child welfare; child care; disabilities; substance abuse; employment and training; welfare reform; youth, women's and minorities' issues; and poverty.

United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute

Website of the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute(UNICRI) established by the UN in1968 and based in Italy. The purpose of UNICRI is to strengthen UN initiatives on preventing criminality and juvenile delinquency. The site presents information on the Institute, its objectives and governing body and on its activities in the following areas: supporting judicial reform and promoting the rule of law: security and counter terrorism and human trafficking.

Environmental Law Institute

The Environmental Law Institute (ELI) is a not-for-profit research and education institute based in Washington, US, which aims to shape the fields of environmental law, policy, and management in the US and beyond. The site provides information about the work of the ELI, including an overview of its programs relating to water resources; land and biodiversity; and innovation in governance. There is a searchable database of more than 4000 official guidance and policy documents, which ELR subscribers and Associates of the ELI can download for free, while others are charged a small fee.

Center for the Study of Human Rights, Columbia University

Website of the Center for the Study of Human Rights, Columbia University, New York. The Center was established in 1978 and seeks to promote human rights education, training and interdisciplinary research. The site presents information about the Center, its staff, board and aims. Details are provided about academic programs, the visiting scholars program, research and conferences. The Centre has two capacity building programs: the Human Rights Advocates Program, which aims to prepare leaders from the Global South and marginalized communities in the U.S.

Shidler Center for Law, Commerce and Technology

Website of the Shidler Center for Law, Commerce and Technology at the School of Law, University of Washington in Seattle, US. The Center was established to provide leadership in teaching, research and policy analysis in the legal aspects of emerging technologies. In its website, the Center places an emphasis on the role of the consumer in the complex electronic marketplace, and focuses on telecommunications and other policy issues relating to the internet and e-commerce.
