Society of Legal Scholars

Website of the Society of Legal Scholars (SLS, a UK professional association aiming to advance legal education, which includes teaching in universities, legal research and the professional training of lawyers. The site provides organisational and membership information and details of conferences, events and SLS publications. There are web pages for the various subject sections giving details of each section's news, events and contact details. SLS newsletters are available going back to 2004 and position papers and consultation responses can be downloaded from the site.

British and Irish Law, Education and Technology Association

The British and Irish Law, Education and Technology Association (BILETA) was formed in April 1986 with the primary objective of promoting technology in legal education throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland. It attempts to achieve this in conjunction with the UK Centre for Legal Education (UKCLE) by promoting research projects, supporting the distribution of software and providing information on technology in law developments. The site provides membership and organisational information and access to an archive of conference papers going back to the 5th BILETA Annual Conference 1990.

Legal Action Group

The Legal Action Group (LAG) is a legal education charity providing support to lawyers and campaigning for improvements in the law and the administration of justice. Its website gives details of LAG publications, courses and campaigns. Contents and editorials from the Group's magazine, 'Legal Action', are also available, along with indexes back to 2000. The site provides guides to a range of legal topics and links to external resources. Subjects covered include community care, crime, employment, human rights, legal aid and welfare benefits.

Den norske Helsingforskomite

The Norwegian Helsinki Committee is a member of the International Helsinki Federation for Human Rights and works to promote democracy and human rights within Europe. Its primary activites include the monitoring of parliamentary elections within the OSCE (Office for Security of Central Europe). The website includes the full-text of the Helsinki Committee's reports on parliamentary elections since 1995. These include reports from Albania, Romania, the former Yugoslavia and nations of the former Soviet Union. The text is available in Norwegian or English.

National Human Rights Commission of Nepal

Website of the National Human Rights Commission of Nepal, an independent, autonomous statutory body established in 2000. Full-text reports, papers and speeches can be viewed on the site; other documentation includes press releases and news items contained in the Commission's e-bulletin. A copy of the Human Rights Commission Act, 2053 (1997) can also be viewed on the site. The site is in English and Nepali but some of the materials are available in Nepali only.

Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission

This is the official website of the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC). It provides information on the history, aims and current activities of the organisation. It includes free access to information about training courses, recent press releases and full-text reports. These cover all aspects of human rights and civil liberties in Afghanistan. Key areas include: womenãs rights, childrenãs rights, transitional justice and monitoring of human rights in prisons, detention centres, during elections.

Society of Advocates of Namibia

Website of the Society of Advocates of Namibia (Namibian Bar) the organisation representing members of the legal profession in Namibia. The site has information on the history and purpose of the Bar. There is background information on the Namibian legal system and the work of advocates in Namibia. The site also has a directory of members and a selection of summaries of decisions from the Namibia High Court.
