The Costs Lawyer Standards Board (CLSB) has been an approved regulator under the Legal Services Act 2007 since 31 October 2011. The website contains a register of costs lawyers authorised and regulated by the CLSB. It also makes available the Costs Lawyer Handbook, comprising of the Code of Conduct, Practising Rules, Disciplinary Rules and Procedures, CPD Rules, Training Rules and other regulatory information and guidance for costs lawyers. The website includes copies of the annual accounts of the CLSB, their business plan and board minutes.
CILEx Regulation is the independent regulator of chartered legal executives, other members of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) and non-members who have practice rights in the legal sector. The website has separate sections giving information for consumers and lawyers. It also contains information on practice rights. The website makes available the CILEx Code of Conduct and CILEx Regulation codes. In addition, there is a directory of disciplinary records containing details of all disciplinary decisions made against CILEx (or previous ILEx) members.
Website of independent educational charity Crime and Justice Studies which is concerned with advancing public understanding of crime, criminal justice and social harm. There is information on the various projects run by the Centre along with news, comment and details of events. The Centre publishes the British Journal of Criminology and Criminal Justice Matters the organisation’s newsletter. Both publications can be viewed on the site. There are also regular briefings covering topics such as criminal record checks, rough sleeping and undercover policing.
The official website of the Belize judiciary. The website provides judgments from the Court of Appeal (1977 – present) and Supreme Court (1972 – present). Other court information is made available, including court forms, dates of court sittings and rules of court. The site also has links to the Constitution and to ‘Laws of Belize’ (revised statutes, 2000 ed.). The website is available in English, French, German, amongst other languages.
The website of the National Parliament (Oireachtas) of Ireland. The Houses of Oireachtas consists of the President and two Houses: Dáil Éireann (House of Representatives) and Seanad Éireann (the Senate). The website contains information about the House of Oireachtas and parliamentary business including online debates, bills and legislation, questions and information on its committees. Other features include educational material, a live streaming service, research publications and information on parliamentary inquiries. Text is available in English or Gaelic.
A bibliographic essay compiled by Janet Sinder, originally published in Law Library Journal in 2001. The essay is made available via BrooklynWorks, the scholarly repository of Brooklyn Law School. The essay lists sources for researching Irish legal history from the earliest days of the Brehon legal system to the date of publication. Brief explanations of the Irish legal system are provided. The Public Defender Service (PDS) is a department of the Legal Aid Agency providing a range of criminal defence services including advice and representation at the police station or magistrates court through to advocacy in the higher courts. The PDS was established in 2001 as the first salaried criminal defence service in England and Wales and provides legal aided defence representation in all types of criminal cases.
