Probation and Parole Database

The International Probation and Parole Website (IPPW) is a joint project of the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), the National Probation Directorate for England and Wales, the Department of Corrections of New Zealand and the Government of Western Australia - Department of Justice. The IPPW is made freely available on the UNICRI website. The site provides an online directory of links to organisations around the world concerned with probation. This can be browsed by country, category (governmental, voluntary, professional etc) or client.

Exploring Humanitarian Law

Exploring Humanitarian Law (EHL) is an online education programme designed by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Education Development Center Inc. (EDC). EHL is a free resource providing learning and teaching materials aimed at the 13 to 18 age group. The materials are organised into modules covering topics such as the humanitarian perspective, limits in armed conflict, the law in action, dealing with violations and responding to the consequences of armed conflict.

World Society of Mixed Jurisdiction Jurists

Website of the World Society of Mixed Jurisdiction Jurists (WSMJJ) an organisation made up of law faculties, individuals and international organisations whose aim is to study jurisdictions with mixed legal systems (including both civil law and common law traditions) around the world. These include South Africa, Scotland, Israel, Quebec, the Philippines and Puerto Rico. The site gives contact details for officers and members, information on conferences and events held by the Society and publications produced by WSMJJ. 

Hague Justice Portal

The Hague Justice Portal is maintained by the Hague Academic Coalition, a consortium of academic institutions. The Portal provides news stories, factsheets, and research papers relating to the work of the Hague institutions, courts and tribunals, including the International Criminal Court; International Court of Justice, International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia; Iran-United States Claims Tribunal; Permanent Court of Arbitration; Special Court for Sierra Leone.

A brief overview of the Saudi Arabian legal system

Online guide to the Saudi Arabian legal system written by Dr. Abdullah Ansary who is a Senior Fellow at the Homeland Security Policy Institute (HSPI) of George Washington University and a Senior Research Fellow at the Arabian Peninsula & Gulf Studies Program (APAG) of the University of Virginia. The guide was published in 2008 on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School at the New York University School of Law. The guide provides background and historical information on Saudi Arabia and the development of the legal system.

FTC guide to antitrust laws

Online guide to the antitrust laws of the United States produced by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and made freely available on the FTC website. The site gives an overview of the three core federal antitrust laws- theSherman Act, the Federal Trade Commission Act and the Clayton Act. There are also sections dealing with the bodies responsible for enforcing the law, monopolies, mergers, price discrimination and competitor collaboration including practices such as price fixing, market division and bid rigging. Each section can be viewed in HTML and as a PDF factsheet.

Saudi laws compendium

Searchable collection of Saudi Arabian laws in English translation, on the website of the Bureau of Experts, which is affiliated to the Saudi Council of Ministers. The database contains the Basic Laws which include the Basic Law of Governance, the Law of Provinces, the Law of the Shura Council and the Law of the Council of Ministers. Other Saudi laws included cover areas such as media and publishing, money laundering, company, economy and investment laws, property, judicial authority and human rights, mining, labour, and finance.

League of Arab States

Website of the League of Arab States (Arab League), a regional organisation of Arabic-speaking countries. Provides official documents, news items, details of the League's organisational structure, and overviews of political, economic, social and other issues concerning the Arab world. There is also information about other pan-Arab institutions and Arab human rights mechanisms. The site is in Arabic, but a limited English-language version is available.

Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf

Website of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (Gulf Cooperation Council) a trade organisation involving the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait. The site provides organisational and background information about the GCC along with details of work achieved in the areas of legal, security, political and military cooperation between its members. The digital library provides access to agreements and regulations of the GCC covering economics, environment, law and patents.

Advocacy Training and Resource Center

The Advocacy Training and Resource Center (ATRC) is a Kosovo-based organisation providing assistance to NGOs working in the area. The ATRC aims to "increase the capacity of NGOs and civic initiatives to undertake advocacy campaigns; and contribute in creating governing institutions that meet international standards". The site has details of ATRC's training and events and the organisation's bulletin can be downloaded in PDF format. Links are given to Kosovo institutions, international bodies and NGOs.
