The blog was established in April 2007 and is updated daily. Items are sourced from a range of news, legal and government websites and can be viewed by date or browsed by subject. The Bar Standards Board (BSB) regulates barristers in England and Wales. Its areas of responsibility include education and training requirements for barristers, setting standards of professional conduct and handling complaints against barristers. Its website provides information for barristers and the general public, including details of the qualifications required to become a barrister, advice on how to make a complaint and information about continuing professional development.
Official website of the Norwegian courts, giving an overview of the Norwegian legal system and information about the Supreme Court, Courts of Appeal and District Courts. Also has guidance about being a witness, representing yourself in court, judicial mediation, criminal court proceedings and other matters.
Cypriot law site established in 2002 and now run by the Cyprus Institute of Legal Information. The site provides all judgments of the Supreme Court (1883 onwards), together with judgments of the Supreme Constitutional Court, Administrative Court and Court of First Instance. It also makes available consolidated and original legislation, the civil procedure rules and Competition Commission decisions. There are basic and advanced search facilities and the content can also be browsed by type of document. The site is entirely in Greek.
A BAILII database providing access to reports and consultation papers published by the Law Commission, which reviews the law of England and Wales. Publications are provided from 1965 onwards in pdf or html format and can be browsed by title/date, or searched by key word. There is also a link to the Law Commission website.
The BAILII Open Law Project is an initiative of the British and Irish Legal Information Institute (BAILII) to create a database of important judgments. The project identifies older cases that are important for legal education and makes them available for free online.
The Sports Lawyers Association (SLA) is a US-based non-profit international professional organisation. Its website has details about the association and its officers, conferences and publications, including The Sports Lawyer Journal and a sports law blog. Some areas of the site are restricted to members only; this includes pages providing specimen contracts and agreements.
National Labour Law Profiles is a free web resource provided by the International Labour Organization (ILO). Although it is no longer updated, it continues to be made available to support historical comparative law purposes.
Guide to building a foreign and international law collection, by Barbara H. Garavaglia, Librarian Emerita and Former Director of the University of Michigan Law Library, and Seth Quidachay-Swan, Head of Collection Development and Access Services at the University of Michigan Law Library. Available on New York University's Globalex website, it covers the organisation of the foreign law section and of international and transnational material.
Responsa is a database of Torah literature, available by subscription from Bar Ilan University in Israel. It includes the Bible, the Talmud Bavli and Yerushalmi, with commentaries; there are works about Jewish law and custom, legal codes and over 80,000 Halachic law decisions. The database is in Hebrew, but the website has English and French interfaces.
