Centre for Innovation Law and Policy

The Centre for Innovation Law and Policy (CILP) is based in the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto and describes itself as a "multi-faceted academic centre devoted to the study of laws, institutions and policies that affect, or are affected by, innovation or technological change". The site has information about the Centre and its staff and includes online full-text copies of CILP's newsletter. Details are given of research projects being carried out at the Centre including links to full text papers where available.

Internet Journal of Criminology

The Internet Journal of Criminology (IJC) is an open access, peer reviewed e-journal published by New University Press. The editorial board is headed by Dr Mike Sutton, formerly of Nottingham Trent University. The journal publishes articles on topics such as the criminal justice system, crime reduction, delinquency, hate crimes, hi-tech crime, wildlife and rural crime, science fraud, and policing.

Education Law Association

Web pages of the US Education Law Association (ELA) which is based at the University of Dayton's School of Education in Ohio. The ELA is a non-profit organisation whose members include educational and legal scholars and practitioners. The site has information about ELA publications including yearbooks, newsletters, case citations, monographs and conference materials. There are also details of ELA events and other education law related events and a page of links to other education law websites. Parts of the site are restricted to members only.

First-Tier Tribunal - Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)

The First-Tier Tribunal -Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) forms part of the Tribunals Service and hears appeals from parents of children with special educational needs against decisions made by local education authorities (LEAs) regarding their children's education. The Tribunal was previously know as the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal (SENDIST). The site has sections aimed at parents and LEAs providing guidance on how to appeal, facts and figures about the Tribunal and information on the role and powers of the Tribunal.

Supreme Court Forecasting Project

The Supreme Court Forecasting Project is based at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. The project looks at "the accuracy of the different ways in which legal experts and political scientists assess and predict Supreme Court decision making". During the Court's 2002 term two methods of predicting the votes of judges were compared. One used a statistical forecasting model and the other used forecasts provided by legal experts. The site provides all the forecasts for 2002. The study has been published in the May 2004 issue of the Columbia Law Review.

National Alternative Dispute Resolution Advisory Council

Website of the National Alternative Dispute Resolution Advisory Council of Australia whose role is to advise "the Commonwealth Attorney-General on the development of high quality, economic and efficient ways of resolving disputes without the need for a judicial decision". There is background information about NADRAC including workplans, annual reports and a copy of NADRAC's charter which are all available to download in a variety of formats. A selection of free resources explaining the ADR process are also available along with statistics on ADR in Australia.

Australian Human Rights Commission

Website of the Australian Human Rights Commission, a government body set up in 1986 to protect human rights and equal opportunities in Australia. The site describes the work of the Commission providing links to relevant legislation, details of its functions and powers and profiles of the Commissioners. Submissions on various issues to State Parliaments, Courts, Inquiries and the United Nations are made available in full text online.

CharityLaw.ca

The CharityLaw.ca website is produced by Canadian law firm Carters Professional Corporation. The site provides legal information aimed at charities and not-for-profit organisations based in Canada and other countries. The site has details of the firm's services and expertise and provides free access to a range of in-house publications (bulletins, articles and seminar materials) which can be downloaded from the site in PDF.

Copyright Licensing Agency

The Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA) is a non-profit making company formed in 1982 by the Authors' Licensing and Collecting Society and the Publishers' Licensing Society to protect the interests of rights owners. The CLA issues licences for organisations wishing to make copies from books and journals and passes the money on to the rights owners. The site has background information on copyright issues, getting clearance and guidance for education, business, government and other public bodies that need to obtain licences.

National Agricultural Law Center

The National Agricultural Law Center is based at the University of Arkansas School of Law in the United States. The Center conducts legal research, provides information facilities and publishes articles by leading agricultural law scholars. The site has a selection of 'Reading Rooms' which are resource guides to a range of agricultural law topics. Subjects covered include bankruptcy, cooperatives, federal crop insurance, farm credit and the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act.
