An Introduction to Sources for Treaty Research

Electronic guide to the resources available for researching treaties, by Mark Engsberg, Foreign and International Law Librarian at Yale's Lillian Goldman Law Library. The guide was published in 2006 (and updated in 2021) on the Globalex Website, which is run by the Hauser Global Law School Program at New York University. The author identifies the tools available for researching both bilateral and multilateral treaties. There is an introduction to treaties and international agreements and an explanation of commonly used terms.

Researching the Armenian Legal System

Online guide to finding Armenian legal information written by Sergey Arakelyan who is Scientific Secretary of the Yerevan State University and Anna Margaryan who is Director of the Law Library at the Yerevan State University. The guide was published in 2006 (and updated by Lyudvik Davtyan and Pavlik Poladyanon in 2022) on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School at the New York University School of Law.

Armenian legislation

Collection of full text laws of Armenia made freely available on the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia website. The laws can be browsed alphabetically or by subject and are provided in full text in English. Subject areas covered on the site include civil and criminal legislation, taxation, banking and finance, housing, family law, health care, social security, foreign policy and international relations law. A copy of the Constitution is included on the site along with the Civil Code and the Criminal Code.

Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia

Official website of the Constitutional Court of Armenia. The site includes the full text of the Armenian Constitution and the Law of the Republic of Armenia on the Constitutional Court. There is a list of Court members and references are given to decisions from 1996 onwards. A few decisions can be viewed in full. There is an e-library of legal materials, including reports, articles and documents, provided on the site in Russian, Armenian and French. A small number of documents can be viewed in English. The site can be viewed in Russian, English and Armenian.

A guide to the legal system of the Islamic Republic of Iran

Online guide to the Iranian legal system written by Omar Sial who is a partner in the Pakistan based law firm Hasan & Sial, Advocates and Corporate Counselors. The guide was published in March 2006 on the Globalex website and is made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. There is background information on the history and government of Iran and an outline of the roles of the Supreme Leader, the President, Parliament (The Majles), Assembly of Experts, the Council of Guardians and the Expediency Council.

Serbian Government

Official Website of the Serbian Government. The State Union, formed in February 2003 and including Montenegro and the state of Serbia, together with the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohia, was dissolved following a referendum in May 2006 in which Montenegro voted for independence . Kosova is also now independent. A profile is given of Serbia, its political system and symbols, and information is given on the organisation, competence and composition of the Assembly and the Council of Ministers.

Constitutional Court of Mongolia

Official website of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia (also known as the Constitutional Tsets). The site has background information about the Court including profiles of members and information on the roles and functions of the Court. Decisions of the court can be searched or borwsed on the site. The site is available in Mongolian with an English interface.

Legislation Mongolia

Collection of links to Mongolian laws made freely available on the Lexadin website as part of their World Law Guide. Laws are arranged by subject including constitutional, administrative, criminal, civil, commercial, company, employment, health, taxation, banking and intellectual property law. The laws are in full-text and translated into English. The page also provides links to the sources of legislation.

Treaty database

Online database of Israel's treaties, on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website. The treaties can be browsed by subject and the name of the country with whom the agreement has been made. They can also be searched by name and date of the agreement. Records provide a description, keywords, state and date of signature. Digital images of the treaties are provided in PDF format. The interface is available in Hebrew, English, Arabic, Spanish, French or Russian; the treaties are in Hebrew, English and other languages.
