Online guide to Islamic law in Malaysia, by Shaikh Mohamed Noordin, a law librarian based in Kuala Lumpur. The guide was published in 2009 (and updated in 2021) on New York University's Globalex website. It covers the establishment of Islamic law in Malaysia and the Islamic law tradition. There is a section on sources of Islamic law and examples of Malaysian legislation, focusing on Islamic family law, procedural law, criminal law and financial law.
The Legal Blawg Archive is compiled by the Law Library of Congress and made freely available on its website. The collection was started in 2007 and "is part of a continuing effort by the Library of Congress to evaluate, select, collect, catalog, provide access to, and preserve digital materials for future generations of researchers". The archive contains selected legal blogs, from law schools, research institutes and think tanks, covering a broad cross section of topics including antitrust, civil procedure, family law, courts, legal ethics, intellectual property and taxation.
Website of the International Institute of Humanitarian Law, an independent not-for-profit organisation based in Italy. The Institute's activities include research; the training of civil and military personnel on international humanitarian law, human rights, refugee law and migration law; and the organisation of conferences and meetings. The site has background information on the history and principles of international humanitarian law and the right to humanitarian assistance, along with materials from events hosted by the Institute.
The Panopticon blog is maintained by barristers at 11KBW in London. It monitors developments taking place in information law. The site has a section explaining what information law covers, including areas such as "data protection, freedom of information, the protection of private information under article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, breach of confidence, and the regulation of surveillance". Posts cover legal news stories including links to original sources, decisions, legislation and reports.
Website of Insite Law magazine which is produced by Mike Semple Piggot and aimed at legal practitioners and students. The site offers podcasts of interviews with people working in different areas of the law and legal education. Recent podcasts have covered topics such as standards in UK universities, the rising costs of legal education and what is involved in doing a Ph.D. There are also interviews with the Chair of the UK Innocence Network Committee, Head of Legal at Liberty and the Director of Justice along with a series of podcasts focusing on the Bar and pupillage.
Article looking at the legal system of Somaliland written by Mohamed Farah Hersi who is an attorney and human rights researcher and a Ph.D. student at the Faculty of Law of the University of Pretoria. The guide was published in 2009 on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School at the New York University School of Law. Somaliland is a breakaway territory established in the north of Somalia in 1991 and is not currently recognised by the international community.
Online guide to state lawyer licensing databases compiled by Andrew Zimmerman who is Director of Library Services at Gordon, Feinblatt, Rothman, Hoffberger & Hollander LLC in Baltimore, Maryland and Trevor Rosen who is Librarian at Shapiro Sher Guinot & Sandler in Baltimore, Maryland. These databases can be used to check whether an individual United States lawyer is licensed to practice in a particular state. Most databases are provided by either the state bar association, the state's court system, disciplinary agency, bar examiners or licensing agency.
Online guide to comparative civil procedure research. The guide was originally written in 2009 by Radu D. Popa, Assistant Dean and Director of NYU Law Library, and Mirela Roznovschi, Reference Librarian for International and Foreign Law at NYU Law Library and was updated in 2023 by Louis Myers who is a Foreign, Comparative, and International Law Librarian with the Law Library of Congress.
Online guide to the Sri Lankan legal system, by Aquinas V. Tambimuttu, a native of Sri Lanka and a Library and Information Science graduate of San Jose State University in California. The guide was published in 2009 (and updated by Thamil Venthan Ananthavinayaganon in 2016) on the Globalex website and made available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. The guide has an introduction to Sri Lanka with an outline of its colonial and legal history.
The Australian Network for Japanese Law is maintained by the College of Law at the Australian National University, the Faculty of Law at Bond University and the Faculty of Law at the University of Sydney. Membership is not required to view the site, but is free and offers notifications of upcoming events and conferences. Aside from lists of events, courses and publications, the site also provides some full-text and abstracted articles (from the Journal of Japanese Law) and research papers.
