Online guide to the Sri Lankan legal system, by Aquinas V. Tambimuttu, a native of Sri Lanka and a Library and Information Science graduate of San Jose State University in California. The guide was published in 2009 (and updated by Thamil Venthan Ananthavinayaganon in 2016) on the Globalex website and made available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. The guide has an introduction to Sri Lanka with an outline of its colonial and legal history. The author explains the use of Sri Lanka's various bodies of laws which, along with English law, include Roman-Dutch Law, Kandyan Law and Theswalamai Law. There is a section dealing with the court system. There are also notes on where to find case law and legislation and a bibliography of references to legal materials dealing with Sri Lankan law, with some web links.
