University of Edinburgh Centre for Legal History

Website of the Centre for Legal History a research department at the University of Edinburgh. The Centre’s research interests focus on Roman law, learned laws in the Middle Ages, history of law in Europe, Scots law history and legal history of Louisiana. The site gives information on events including conferences, lectures and seminars organised by the Centre and links to relevant resources – other research centres, societies, websites and journals. A selection of videos of lectures is also made available on the site.

Immigrant Council of Ireland

The Immigrant Council of Ireland is an independent law centre providing assistance to people seeking immigration information and advice. The website has guidance to the law on citizenship, family reunification, employment in Ireland and international students. There is information on the Council’s campaigns, partner organisations and training along with a selection of links to related bodies. The Council’s publications and annual reports can also be downloaded from the site.

Rwanda’s Legal System and Legal Materials

Online guide to the law and legal materials of Rwanda written by Dr. Etienne Mutabazi, Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Law at the University of Iringa in Tanzania. The guide was published in 2025 on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. The author gives an overview of Rwanda’s legal history from 1890s through to the 2003 Constitution. There are sections looking at the structure of government, the criminal justice system and sources of legislation.

Burkina Faso: A Bird’s-Eye’s View of the Legal System

Online guide to the legal system of Burkina Faso written by Sâ Benjamin Traoré who is Associate Professor of Law at the Africa Institute for Research in Economics and Social Sciences and a Faculty of Governance, Economics and Social Sciences at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Morocco. The guide was published in 2024 on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law.

Consumer Crime Cases

The Consumer Crime Cases (CCC) website provides free access to case commentaries and digests of consumer protection and trading standards appeal cases. The site is produced by Victor Smith former Head of Legal Services at Northamptonshire County Council. Cases can be searched using free text terms or using the keyword index or legislation list. Digests highlight key points of law, extracts from the judgements and links to related cases. There are also pages of links to related organisations and legislation.

Welsh Legal History Society

The Welsh Legal History Society was founded in 1999 to promote interest and research into the history of law in Wales. Contents pages of the Society’s journal and a selection of full text articles are available on the site. There is also a selection of research resources aimed at researchers of Welsh legal history along with a page of links to databases and repositories containing historical legal materials. The site can be viewed in English and Welsh.

Law Student Hub

Created by law publisher LexisNexis, Law Student Hub provides guidance and development material for law students and trainee lawyers in the UK. It offers proficiency tests and certification for the databases Lexis®Library and Lexis®PSL, provides a guide to surviving law school, and features blog posts, research and reports of interest to law students and trainees. Careers information and legal news are also available, partly through links to external websites.

Researching the Right to Housing

Online guide to resources on housing rights written by S M Atia Naznin who is a lecturer at the School of Law, BRAC University, in Bangladesh. The guide was published in 2018 (and updated in 2024) on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. International Humanitarian Law

Online guide to the legal resources of comparative constitutional law written by Julienne E.
