State Bar of California

Website of the State Bar of California a mandatory bar association established in 1927. The State Bar forms part of the California Supreme Court and is responsible for regulating the professional conduct of practising attorneys in California. The site has background information about the organisation and functions of the State Bar including news, details of events, meetings and the activities of the Board of Governors. There are a selection of annual reports which are made available in PDF dealing with disciplinary issues and the Lawyer Assistance Program.

Free Representation Unit

Web pages of the Free Representation Unit (FRU), a charitable organisation founded in 1972 to provide free legal representation to people who cannot afford to pay. The FRU represents individuals at tribunals including Employment Tribunals, Employment Appeal Tribunal, Social Security and Child Support Appeals Tribunals; it also deals with some immigration and criminal injury compensation cases. The website has information on how the FRU operates and provides employment and social security advice. There is also information about how to obtain legal advice.

Iranian-American Bar Association

Website of the Iranian-American Bar Association (IABA) which was formed in 2000 as a non-profit organisation representing the Iranian-American legal community. The site includes profiles of directors and officers of the IABA, details of future events organised by the Association and a PDF copy of their by-laws. There is a directory of members and full text copies of the IABA Review and the IABA Newsletter can be viewed in PDF. Links to papers, reports and other resources are also provided.

Victoria Law Foundation

Website of the Victoria Law Foundation in Australia. The Foundation is an independent statutory body established by the Victorian Parliament to act as a 'creative interface' between the public, the government, the legal profession and community organisations. The site provides a selection of online books aimed at the public and the legal profession which are made freely available as PDF documents and cover topics such as jury service, pro bono and local laws.

Association of Corporate Counsel

The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) is the in-house bar association representing attorneys who practice in corporate legal departments. The ACC was established in 1982 and draws its membership from lawyers working in 40 countries around the world. Free information includes a selection of online surveys, statistics and polls dealing with issues affecting in-house counsel and materials on multijurisdictional practice whereby US lawyers can practice in states other than the one in which they are licensed.

Isle of Man Law Society

Website of the Isle of Man Law Society, which represents and regulates advocates practising in the Isle of Man. The site provides information about the history, role and organisation of the Society, along with a selection of FAQs. There is a directory of members which can be searched or browsed by company name, practice area or individual member. Parts of the site are restricted to members only.

Singapore Law Gazette

Website of the Singapore Law Gazette, a quarterly journal published by the Law Society of Singapore. The Gazette contains news, feature articles, legal updates (latest cases and legislation) and regular columns covering the Bar, IT issues and practice tips. It is available on the site back to January 2000.

Hong Kong Bar Association

The Hong Kong Bar Association is the professional organisation for barristers in Hong Kong. Its website provides information about the work of a barrister and has a directory of Hong Kong barristers and barristers' chambers. There are also lists of mediators and arbitrators. Information about the Association includes its rules and regulations, Code of Conduct and annual reports. There is a selection of speeches, articles and press releases along with information about pupillage.

Bombay Bar Association

Website of the Bombay Bar Association (BBA) which represents lawyers on the original side (as opposed to the appellate side) of the Bombay High Court. The site provides information about the BBA and about the Bombay High Court including daily cause lists (case schedules), notices and a list of sitting judges. There is background information to the legal system in India and links to other legal websites including Indian courts, judgements and statutes. Parts of this site are still under development.
