DipLawMatic Dialogues

DipLawMatic Dialogues is the official blog of the Foreign, Comparative and International Law Special Interest Section (FCIL-SIS) of the American Association of Law Libraries. The blog is intended as a forum for the exchange of ideas for FCIL-SIS members, other law librarians, and anyone with an interest in foreign, comparative and international law or law librarianship. The blog has a simple search function and it is possible to browse by category. The available archives go back to December 2013.

South African Treaty Register

The South African Treaty Register is a database of South African treaty information from 1654 onwards. It is searchable by title, date, laterality and other criteria. For each treaty, the register gives the title, date of signature or adoption, parties (or sponsoring intergovernmental organization), date/s of entry into force, date of South African ratification (where applicable), et cetera. Many multilateral and bilateral treaties from recent decades are provided in full.

International Atomic Energy Agency

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was set up in 1957 and has its headquarters in Vienna. It is a international organisation within the UN System. The IAEA website provides a wide range of information about the role and structure of the agency and details of its programmes and education/training. It also gives full-text access to publications and official documents: nuclear treaties, reports, country factsheets, the IAEA Legal Series, the quarterly IAEA Bulletin and other material, including digitised older titles from around the 1960s onwards.

Asociaciόn Venezolana de Derecho Maritimo

Official site of the Venezuelan Association of Maritime Law (AVDM). Gives background information about the organisation including its history, membership, mission, vision and code of ethics. The organisation is committed to the study, development, reform and dissemination of maritime law. Full-text access is available to documents and legislation related to the Organisation.  The Publications section consists of a collection of free e-books (some in English) and serials on Venezuelan and international maritime law, presented in the form of a clickable bookshelf.

FCGH Alliance

Website of FCGH Alliance an NGO created in 2017 under the Swiss civil code to advocate for the creation of a Framework Convention on Global Health (FCGH). The FCGH is a proposed international treaty, developed by health and law experts, designed to address health inequalities. The website has a
freely available library of briefing papers and articles including documents covering the work of the FCGH Alliance in promoting the treaty. There is also a blog highlighting global health law issues, the activities of the FCGH Alliance and the status of the convention.

World Association for Medical Law

Website of the World Association for Medical Law (WAML) an organisation established in 1967 to “encourage the study and discussion of health law, legal medicine and ethics, for the benefit of society and the advancement of human rights”. WAML is a membership organisation based at the University of Ghent in Belgium. It organises regular conferences and events and publishes Medicine and Law an international journal dealing with medico legal issues. There is also a newsletter available from 2009 to 2014 (thereafter available to members only). A page of related web links is also given.

International Law Blog

This blog has been compiled by a group of legal scholars, a number of whom are based at Middlesex University in London. The blog aims to provide “students, junior lawyers and scholars at different stages of their professional and academic careers with a platform to discuss issues related to international, transnational, European and comparative law”. Subject categories include international criminal law, human rights, EU law and public international law and posts date back to September 2014. Many of the posts are written as journal articles and include references.

De Maribus

De Maribus is a blog on the law of the sea providing current information on conferences, courses and calls for papers on this topic. There are links to other legal blogs and to maritime and other international law research institutes. The blog is edited by N. F Coelho and Arron Honniball who are PhD students at Utrecht University.

Environmental Law

This page describes the work of Environmental Law Programme (ELP) which forms part of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) a membership network of government and civil society organisations concerned with nature conservation. There is information on the various initiatives run by the ELP including the World Commission on Environmental Law (WCEL), the Environmental Law Centre (ELC) and the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law.

An Introduction to International Fisheries Law Research

Online guide providing an introduction to international fisheries regulation written by Abdullah Al Arif who is Senior Lecturer in Law at the Daffodil International University, Bangladesh. The guide was published in 2018 and updated in 2022 on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. The author gives background information on the topic and an overview (with links) of the international instruments on fisheries regulation and relevant International environmental law instruments.
