Journal of Environmental Law

The Journal of Environmental Law is published three times a year by Oxford University Press, UK. It contains articles on a wide variety of topics as well as case law, book reviews and legal materials (such as EU directives and official guidance documents). The website offers a few articles and papers free of charge. The full text of the journal is available online to users with a print subscription.

New York University Environmental Law Journal

Comprehensive website for the New York University Environmental Law Journal, established in 1992 at the New York University School of Law. The journal aims to encourage environmental protection and stimulate clear and responsible discussion of environmental law and policy. Articles are written by legal academics, practitioners and students specialising in the field. They consider questions of environmental law and policy from a variety of perspectives. An archive offers full-text articles, notes, speeches and book reviews published in the journal from volume 1, 1992 onwards.

ENDS Report

The ENDS Report is a monthly subscription journal, providing environmental news and analysis, focused on the UK environmental agenda. The journal provides expert analysis of legislation and its impacts on business along with news and reports on corporate environmental management. There is coverage of environmental court cases, company reports and details of the latest legislative developments.

UK Environmental Law Association

The United Kingdom Environmental Law Association (UKELA) is a membership organisation for those involved in the practice, study or formulation of environmental law. The site has organisational information about UKELA and details of the work carried out by regional and working groups including minutes, submissions and responses. Background information is given relating to environmental and wild law. There are details of events and conferences with links to papers and presentations from previous events provided.

Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide

The Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide (ELAW) was founded in 1989 by lawyers who wanted to collaborate to protect the environment. The site describes the work of the Alliance. News items and articles about ELAW campaigns are also provided. The Alliance's quarterly journal, ELAW Advocate, is available under "What We Do" (2000 onwards). The Resources page provides access to cases, laws and other materials for a range of geographical regions, covering environmental topics such as pollution, biodiversity, conservation, economics, mining, waste, water and wildlife.

Earth Negotiations Bulletin

The Earth Negotiations Bulletin is published online through the Linkages website and produced by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD). The Bulletin is intended to provide balanced, objective and informative summaries of international environment and development negotiations. Each volume covers a particular topic, such as a conference or convention, with individual issues providing short news reports on progress. Each volume also contains summary issues which contain full reports and analyses, and has an associated Linkages page with related information.

Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal

Produced by the Information Unit for Conventions (IUC) of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), this site maintains information on the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal. The Basel Convention was adopted in 1989 and entered into force on 5 May 1992. The treaty strictly regulates the transboundary movements of hazardous wastes and provides obligations to its Parties to ensure that such wastes are managed and disposed of in an environmentally sound manner.

Canadian Institute for Environmental Law and Policy (CIELAP)

The Canadian Institute for Environmental Law and Policy (CIELAP) is an independent, not-for-profit research and education organization. CIELAP's mission is "to develop and advance proposals for the reform of environmental law and public policy." The site provides access to full text copies of articles in the CIELAP newsletter, details of how to become an associate member and a list of publications for sale.
