IACL-AIDC Blog

The International Association of Constitutional Law (IACL) is a forum for the exchange of knowledge about the development and understanding of constitutional systems worldwide. This page links directly to the IACL blog which aims to be a meeting place for constitutionalists to present their research, share views and discuss constitutional law topics. Posts can be browsed by date back to 2014 and viewed by topic including gender and constitutions, centenary of the constitution in Liechtenstein and Irish unification. Laws of Botswana

Website providing access to Botswana legislation. This is a subscription site provided by Blackhall publishing. The aim is to offer subscribers principle and subsidiary legislation in force, fully consolidated and annotated. The laws are available back to 1890 and can be browsed alphabetically or by date and searched by keyword. The contents of the acts and some extracts are free to view.

Constitution of Botswana

Electronic copy of the 1966 Botswana Constitution made freely available online by the Comparative Constitutions Project at the University of Texas at Austin. The Constitution is provided in PDF and is amended up to 2016. There are chapters on fundamental rights and freedoms, citizenship, and the role of the Executive, Parliament and the Judiciary.

Researching Comparative Constitutional Law

Online guide to the legal resources of comparative constitutional law written by Julienne E. Grant who is Reference Librarian/Foreign & International Research Specialist at the Loyola University Chicago School of Law Library. The guide was published in 2020 (and updated in 2024) on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law.

Ley Chile

Chilean legislation website, provided free of charge by the Library of the Chilean National Congress. Includes the current and historical Chilean codes and constitutions, treaties ratified by Chile and a collection of important individual laws arranged by subject. Simple and advanced search facilities are available, or the site can be browsed by collection (Constitutions, Codes, Treaties, or Laws by Subject). The entire site is in Spanish.  

Constitution of Ghana

Electronic copy of the 1992 Ghanaian Constitution made freely available online by the Comparative Constitutions Project at the University of Texas at Austin. The Constitution is provided in PDF and is amended up to 1996. There are chapters on fundamental rights, representation of the people, the role of the executive, legislature and judiciary along with the freedom of the media, public services, local government and the chieftaincy.

Constitution Annotated

Website of the "Constitution Annotated" ("Constitution of the United States of America: Analysis and Interpretation"), a guide to interpretation of the US Constitution, provided by the Library of Congress. The site includes a searchable table of cases, Supreme Court decisions overruled by subsequent decisions, biographies of Supreme Court justices and other resources compiled by the Congressional Research Service. A complete, searchable copy of the Constitution is also given on the site. 

Constitution of Benin

Electronic copy of the 1990 Constitution of Benin, along with subsequent amendments, made freely available online by the Comparative Constitutions Project at the University of Texas at Austin. The Constitution is provided in PDF. There are chapters on the state and sovereignty, rights and duties of the individual and the role of the executive, legislative and judicial powers.
