South Eastern Circuit

Website of the South Eastern Circuit, the largest of the six Circuits in England and Wales. The South Eastern Circuit represents barristers practising in this area which includes Cambridge, London, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Essex, Kent and Surrey. The Circuit represents members views with the Bar Council, Lord Chancellor's Department, Court User Committees and Area Criminal Justice Liaison Committees and provides training through courses, seminars and workshops. There is information about becoming a barrister, with details of scholarships and awards; it also lists courses for new practitioners. Honourable Society of the Middle Temple

Website of the Middle Temple, one of the four Inns of Court, colleges of barristers which have the authority to call men and women to the Bar in England and Wales. The website has information for students, including background to the organisation of the Bar, becoming a barrister, admission to the Inn, courses (including continuing education for new practitioners), scholarships and awards. There is information on the history of the Middle Temple, banqueting facilities, library and archive services and a diary of events.

Criminal Bar Association

Website of the Criminal Bar Association (CBA) a specialist bar association which "exists to represent the views of the practising members of the independent criminal Bar in England and Wales." The site includes full-text CBA newsletters from 2001 onwards, a list of events and lectures held by the organisation and recent reports of the CBA working parties. A selection of papers and fact sheets are also available to download.

Ordre des Avocats de Paris

The Ordre des Avocats de Paris is an association for Parisian advocates (barristers). The website provides news updates, training and careers information, Le Bulletin du Barreau de Paris (2003 onwards) and information on the role, regulation and history of the profession. An online directory ('annuaire') of members can be searched by name, address, district, legal speciality, language spoken and other criteria. There is a password-protected area for members. The website is in French.

Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe

The Council of the Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) is the official representative body for the legal profession in the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA). It is also a Council of Europe consultative body. The website describes the CCBE's structure and work, lists its member bars and law societies and provides a directory of committee officers. The Documents section includes the Code of Conduct for European Lawyers and position papers on more than 25 subjects, ranging from access to justice and world trade to contract law and VAT.

Gray's Inn Tax Chambers

Gray's Inn Tax Chambers are a specialist set whose services include tax advice and tax appeals. Their website has information about their barristers and clerks, together with news, summaries of tax cases in which GITC barristers have acted and an archive of their newsletter, the GITC Review, which ran from 2002 to 2022.

Tasmanian Bar

Association of independent barristers based in Tasmania and constituent member of the Australian Bar Association. The Tasmanian Bar's website provides barristers' profiles and contact details and gives links to Tasmanian legal resources. There is also CPD information and news.
