Citizenship Foundation

The Citizenship Foundation is a charity working to educate young people about citizens' rights and duties and about the law, seeking to promote participation in community and public life. Its website provides resources for school teachers, some free, some subscription-based.

Leasehold Advisory Service

Independent service which provides free information about the law concerning residential leasehold property. The website includes guidance on topics including fire safety, service charges, building management, breach of a lease, lease extensions and the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal. It also has templates for letters to landlords, free e-learning resources and news updates.

Expert Witness Institute

The Expert Witness Institute (EWI) was set up in 1996 to support expert witnesses. Its website gives organisational information about the EWI, the work of its committees and a diary of events, courses and seminars. The site also includes EWI newsletters and position papers, professional guidance for members, news items and a page of links. Parts of the site are only available to members.

Environmental Law Foundation

The Environmental Law Foundation (ELF) is a national UK charity which links communities and individuals to legal and technical experts who can provide advice and information on how the law can help resolve environmental problems. ELF was established in 1992 and consists of a network of environmental solicitors, barristers, consultants and academics, who provide free initial advice and assistance and then, if required, further support on either a free, at cost or reduced-fee rate.

Law Centres Federation

Co-ordinating body for law centres in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The site includes background information about law centres and access to justice. Contact details for law centres are provided, together with policy and research documents, leaflets and a newsletter. Parts of the site are restricted to members only.

Great Britain-China Centre

The Great Britain-China Centre exists to promote understanding between Britain and China, focusing in particular on legal and judicial reform. The website has information on projects dealing with human rights reporting, the police, judicial studies training and the death penalty. The Centre's journal, the China Review, is available on the site from 2006 onwards.

Williams Powell

Willams Powell is a London-based firm of patent and trade mark attorneys. Their website gives a brief introduction to and definitions of patents, trade marks, design and copyright. General guidance is provided on filing a patent, writing a patent specification, patent searching and the likely costs involved. There is also advice on choosing and registering trade marks. Advice for overseas patent and trade mark attorneys is given on the site and brief guidance for people wishing to register patents or trade marks abroad.

College of Mediators

The College of Mediators, formerly the UK College of Family Mediators, is an independent regulatory body. Its website provides information about mediation and has a searchable directory of mediators. It provides membership information and a list of accredited training providers in the field of mediation. Policy documents and guidelines are also available.

Civil Law Reform Division

Website of the Civil Law Reform Division (CLRD) of the Department of Finance and Personnel in Northern Ireland. This department is responsible for reform of private family law, trusts and property law, tort, contract law and private international law. The site provides details of current projects, downloadable consultation papers and reports and links to related documents such as legislation.

The British Safety Council

The British Safety Council is concerned with occupational health and safety, working with companies in the UK and worldwide to develop safe systems of work and providing advice to the Health and Safety Executive. The website has information about the organisation's campaigns and details of its training courses. Recent articles from Safety Management magazine are also available.
